Heels of Love continues to expand its sonic universe with Phones Away, the label’s fourth release, signed by Fran Bortolossi and Danish DJ/producer NILU.

With nearly two decades in the game, Fran Bortolossi stands as one of the driving forces of Brazil's electronic music scene, whether through his presence on the decks, his Colours party (a major reference in the south of the country), or his releases on labels like Warung Recordings, Otherwise, and Get Physical. On the flip side, NILU brings the originality of his deep and melodic signature straight from the Copenhagen nightlife, with music already recognized by imprints such as Einmusika, Fluxo, and Bunny Tiger.

The EP features two tracks aimed at different dancefloor moods. The title track “Phones Away” flirts with Indie Dance nuances through an engaging melodic structure, marked by strings recorded by Fran himself, a robust bassline, and vocal cuts that deepen the narrative.
“The Basement” heads into more intense territory, with acid-leaning synths, high-energy vocal chops, and a peak-time-ready structure - leaning into a more techy and powerful atmosphere.

Otherwise Records presents “Stop That Record, And Rewind That!”, the latest EP by DJ,
producer, and label manager Fran Bortolossi. Featuring 3 original tracks — “Stop That Record,
And Rewind That!”, “Music All Night Long” and “Don’t Do It” — the release navigates the
intersection of Indie Dance and Nu Disco, where arrangement choices push the tension between
memory and motion, the dancefloor and immersive listening.
The title track builds around vocal cuts that operate like rhythmic triggers, layered over modulated
basslines and spacious percussion in a structure that nods to the past without falling into
nostalgia. “Music All Night Long” leans into a looser, more fluid framework, led by textures
reminiscent of early Daft Punk — channeling club hedonism with restraint. Closing the EP, “Don’t
Do It” takes a more direct route, fusing groove and harmonic fragments, anchored by a filtered
vocal that emerges with a confessional tone.
With this release, Fran Bortolossi continues to refine his sonic language — one rooted in
deliberate timbral choices and structures that emphasize internal movement. Stop That Record,
And Rewind That! sits within the Otherwise catalog as a contemporary reading of the dialogue
between form and function, expanding the ways sound can inhabit space with clarity and control.
