clavicl (spelling inspired by artists like chvrches, deadmau5, and aging vision) is a solo project by amateur musician and professional neuroscientist David McLean, whose music combines elements of blues, house, rock, orchestral and electronic dance music. Their first album ‘Demo Mada’ (Japanese for ‘But Not Yet’) is dominated by guitar riffs and electronic beats, inspired by soundtracks and theme music for TV and film. Their second album ‘Tryk Træk’ (Danish for ‘Push Pull’) is similarly inspired but leans more electronic. Songs thus far are instrumental and purposefully short but loopable. McLean’s current creative process relies on the immediacy provided by a guitar, an iPhone and GarageBand for iOS.
