Yes yes, it's the next mix in the Ten Tracks series!

This time our selector is @bensoundsystem, a fantastic DJ who's been doing the good thing for what must be decades now. Until recently he was living in a huge plushy van with his beaut family and his Technics, making a living DJing along the Spanish Riviera. Dreamy! Sadly the pandemic forced them home so he's back bouncing around Notts on his beach cruiser. Selfishly, it's good to have him back in town.

Ben was a significant inspiration to me back when I was broadening my tastes and DJing style, so it's rad to have him on Pushkins Prefers. The mix is upbeat and humorous, camp and eclectic. It's a real party starter, perfect for your weekend. All vinyl too, natch. Art is by the man himself; was supposed to be his daughter Roxy but apparently there was a vomit incident 😂

After hearing the news of Simons passing and remembering with friends the subject of a certain mixtape came up …we all searched our boxes of cassettes without much luck and some empty cases …however Pete Slotter discovered and found what might well be the only existing copy …and as luck would have it the original tape!
Recorded at Simon DK's flat in Nottingham after the after party on a DiY Bounce night in 1994 after Bath crew John Kesecki & Pete Slotter went back to his and asked him to make a tape, which he did and named it 'Float Laboratory'. 
It's a lovely pitched down mix perfectly capturing those early hours.
It was brought down to Bath - copied and played ALOT!!. It was one of those tapes that just did the rounds and was loved by many…
So it was only right at this time to immortalise it and make it available for you to enjoy again or hear it for the first time...
