Nach ihrer Debutsingle Music School, die als Club-
Track auf einem harten Trap-Beat daherkam, zeigen
Hatta Clapz mit ihrer zweiten Single When we were
down gleich ihre stilistische Versatilität. Im Gewand
einer Urban Pop-Nummer singen Hatta Clapz über die
Höhen und Tiefen einer Künstlerkarriere und die
Korrelation von Erfolg und sogenannten „Freunden“.
Two styles, one energy! lautet das Motto von Hatta
Clapz. Mit Singin Gold und Raphael kommen zwei
Charaktere zusammen die unterschiedlicher nicht sein
könnten.
Singin Gold ist mit der reichen musikalischen
Bandbreite jamaikanischer Popmusik groß geworden
und hat über die Jahre diverse Reggae und Dancehall
Releases vorzuweisen. In Zusammenarbeit mit Symbiz
Sound hat er erstmals begonnen über Clubbeats zu
singen, die weit über die musikalischen Grenzen von
Dancehall hinausgehen. Hier hat er seine musikalische
Heimat gefunden - einen Style, den er sein eigen
nennen kann.
Raphael hat als Teil des Produzenten-Duo
FedUpFaction seit über zehn Jahre Erfahrung mit Trip-
Hop, Dubstep und Drum&Bass Produktionen. Dabei
kommt ein wichtiger Einfluss aus den Trust in Bass
Partys, bei denen er als Resident DJs und Organisator
in Erscheinung tritt. Diese Erfahrungen und Einflüsse
bringt er in die Arbeit von Hatta Clapz mit ein, wo er
sich für die Beats verantwortlich erklärt.
Bass music and jamaican vocals! Mit dieser Formel
lassen sich Hatta Clapz beschreiben, wobei unentwegt
die Variablen geändert werden und somit jeder Song
ein eigenes Gesicht bekommt.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (29th April) We welcome Guy Andrews in Hour 1 following the release of his album 'Our Spaces'  on Houndstooth last month. He's had previous releases on Hotflush and Hemlock Recordings, plus a collaboration with Masayoshi Fujita as a joint release with Erased Tapes for Record Store Day. This and some of the album tracks feature in his mix alongside music from Halves, ANOHNI, Mogwai, Vessel and Alva Noto. He had this to say;

"The mix is based around a collection of tunes that I've been listening to a lot both recently and over the past few years. I wanted to capture the more ambient, experimental and post-rock end of my music taste, mixing together timeless classics with some newer tracks I've discovered. Regardless of how old some of the tunes are, they all continue to influence me on both a musical and personal level."

Our new Champloo Music podcast is made by Scratchynski from Dresden, Germany. 

Being a DJ since 1998, Scratchynski's musical journey startet with techno and faded to house in the early 2000s. From 2008 Dubstep and Grime dominated his musical interests, what led to the monthly series "Sub der Republik", from which the Sub Sickness crew emerged, that strongly influenced the Dresden bass music scene with top-class guest performances by Mala, Om Unit, Kahn, Eprom and many more. But since musical style boundaries were never Scratchynski's thing, electronically infected Hip Hop á la Flying Lotus, Eprom, Gaslamp Killer etc. in connection with the first Footwork releases already met wide open ears at this time. This is especially true for Funky Monkey, when Scratchynski, DNZ and east enter the DJ Spaceship and play entire nights together on 4 decks and 3 mixers. Solo, his sets are characterized by all the influences that shaped his musical path - an eclectic mix of HipHop, Glitch, Juke, Future Beatz and a good portion of bass. You can hear it regularly on the Infinite Sequence series and the corresponding monthly podcast. Besides his activities as DJ and promoter, Scratchynski is one of the founders of the Dresden based DAVE Festival.
