Berlin has long been known as one of the world's foremost authorities on Techno music, yet since the golden era of Drum & Bass in the mid 90's, a passion for the sounds of the UK has been steadily pulsing behind the scenes. From the early days of Hard:edged raves featuring illustrious guests from the Metalheadz camp, to the establishment of an iconic music venue (pun intended) - which would soon become home to the city’s legendary Recycle nights until it’s closing in 2012, and therefore one of the city’s most important Drum & Bass institutions - the scene has grown and morphed over the years. 

Back in 2010, I remember coming across a compilation mix put together by Steez & Mr. Kay, which showcased a lot of the scene’s talent at that time. Since then there has been a noticeable shift towards the darker, more aggressive side of Drum & Bass, with a growing number of homegrown talent beginning to receive international recognition through releases on labels like Noisia’s “Blackout Music”, “Bad Taste Recordings” or “DSCI4” to name a few, as well as an influx of fresh influences from the UK and abroad. Like that seminal mix, the “Berlin D&B Allstars” project aims to showcase some of these artists from Berlin and the music they’ve created in recent years. Big respect to everyone involved!
