Dublin-based producer Shane Robinson is not a newcomer to the Silk label family. However, he has never appeared on Silk Sofa, so we're extremely proud to welcome his "Never Let Go" EP, featuring three tremendous chillout cuts. 

The title track starts out with a blissful atmosphere, including intriguing sound effects in the background. Mesmerizing percussion elements build up the main rhythm, which is supported beautifully by subtle piano strokes and intermittent vocal stems. "Nothing's Changed" begins with a tranquil rhodes melody, which is surrounded by fascinating pad lines and a hypnotizing breakbeat. Later, the main lead turns to a rather melancholy theme, rounding out the song perfectly. Lastly, "Between Us" finalizes this EP with its mellifluous and breath-taking piano lines, soothing percussion sounds, and sweeping pad elements.

Shane Robinson - Never Let Go [Silk Sofa]

Seattle's @kidsimpledubs caught our ears in the application process for the 2013 Red Bull Music Academy with his intricate, free-flowing layering of melancholic sound textures. With a sonic vision already fully formed early on in his career, the producer continues to add to his template on his new release for @hush-hush-records.

The <i>Silo Tear</i> EP is arguably Kid Smpl's most palpable effort yet. Apparent on the title track, which we are happy to premiere, the producer weaves in more abrasive rhythmical and textural elements than what we've heard from him thus far. Washes of noise add to the dramatic feel introduced by somber synths and sorrowful vocal samples, drawing connections to the work of Burial just as they to do that of fellow NYC Academy grad Evian Christ. Do yourself a favour and listen to this now.

It was in Hatch’s car when he “re-discovered this classic in the car couple months back,” and wanted to get a feel for where the track originally came from saying "I checked out the interviews that Chapman did where she explained the place she felt Fast Car came from. Its all about breaking out of a place of repression and poverty not just in a physical sense but also overcoming internal limitations. Both of which can be momentarily resolved by getting in your car, simultaneously to no where and everywhere.” Production wise he says,” I wanted to juxtapose that with something that brings an uplifting vibe and works on the dance floor too, whilst still maintaining the warm familiarity of the song.”
