GC038 - The Magic Track 🇭🇺 

The Magic Track a DJ/Production duo from Debrecen, Hungary, comprised of Gio & DRJ and they are infatuated with disco and house. 

Gio was raised on classic house and techno, and also influenced by the sound of the 80's electro and synth-funk sound. DRJ grew up on 80's pop, indie, and UK punk .

It was inevitable that these guys will work together sometimes. They both love the classic funk & soul from the 70s and this is what they mix with brand new and recent house, disco, afro, brazil, indie dance and nu disco tunes.

Their producer career was started only last year at And Friends Records, and in the last 10 months Magic releases came out on Mango Sounds, Hive Label and Furious Mandrill too.

Their debut EP, Four Seasons was released on Furious Mandrill in December, and only three months later the next one, Equality EP was sitting in the Juno Download TOP 10 for 2 weeks. Their tracks were played by Fingerman, Pete Herbert, Stephen Richards, Mannix, Paul Older, Igor Gonya, etc.

Their latest EP was released on Tropical Disco in September, and both tunes were featured on the Traxsource TOP 100.
Next Magic EP's are coming soon on Masterworks Music, Furious Mandrill Records, Super Spicy Records, and the guys are also signed their first 3 vinyl records to be released in the upcoming months.

This one has been a long time coming, being one of our residents favourite producers. None other than Ladies On Mars! 

Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, he began to dabble with genres such as Disco, Funk and House around 2012, eventually laeding him to
sign with the Marshall Jefferson`s label: Freakin909 in 2018. He has also worked with labels norious disco labels such as Soulstar Records, Masterworks Music, Sakura Music, Tropical Velvet and sign with the most important record and Re-edits music label of the last 10 years: Midnight Riot. 

In 2020 he has signed with the big labels as: Tropical Disco Records, Re-Loved along with plenty others!

His incredible live sessions have taken him to play in various parts of the world, playing in The Bedford, Shoreditch Platform, The Distrikt Bar, Kit Kat Club, ELSTERARTIG Club along with some of South America’s most notorious clubs! 

Right now, his music is supported by great artists such as: Late Nite Tuff Guy, Horse Meat Disco, Blessed Madonna, Mark Lower, John Morales, Claptone, Mat. Joe, Mighty Mouse, Michael Gray, Babert, Yam Who?, Kort, Moodena, Discotron, to name just a few! 

Coming fresh off an official remix for none other than the queen of disco; Donna Summer he’s certainly ending the year on a high and we can’t wait to see what he has planned in the future!

With the Basement Boogieland fast approaching it felt only right to get the main man: Alan Dixon in for a feature on the mixtape series.

Recently getting regular Radio 1 airplay and being signed to Running Back, Permanent Vacation and Correspondant records, he’s certainly doing something right. 

He has long been a name on the edge of big-time success, marked out by many as one to watch by industry taste-makers uncluding Mixmag, Defected and Traxsource. 

After making a name with his disco edits and soulfuric gospel tracks, he’s made the move into pulsing big-room Italo anthems that are equal parts disco strut and peak-time breakdowns. 

With an established new peak-time synth sound championed by Danny Howard, Annie Mac and Pete Tong naming Alan’s ‘Edge of Forever’ release as their Essential New Tune, Alan is finally breaking through and getting noticed by all the right people. 

If this taster mix he’s provided us with here is anything to go by, he’s going to blow the roof off Kable for the Basement Boogieland on the 20th November. And we cannot wait!

London-based DJ and Producer Even Funkier searches high and low for the funkiest music he can find, weaving together Disco, Funk, House, Soul, Boogie, Jazz, Hip Hop and Global delights to create something fresh, irresistibly funky and downright groovy. He plays tunes from across the decades, genres and BPMs, mixing up hidden gems with tried and tested favourites, with a focus on sweet, sweet Disco music brought right up to date for modern dancefloors.

As well as presenting a long-running fortnightly radio show and hosting a weekly livestream (and the occasional 33 hour charity DJ set), he's also made waves on the production side in 2021, with releases on a rapidly growing selection of cool labels including Hot Digits, Spa In Disco, Mango Sounds and Tropical Disco. He's a versatile DJ, just as at home playing a vintage funk session, spinning spacey nu disco or banging out a house set or maybe all of the above and more in one of his trademark rollercoaster genre-fluid sets.

It’s our penultimate mix of the year and the last guest feature, so we made sure to bring in one of Nu-Disco’s hottest commodities, Miami’s own – DJ Mark Brickman! 

DJ Mark Brickman arrived in South Beach in late 2000 and has been gracing the ears of house music fans ever since.

Mark has had resident gigs all over Miami from Rumi Lounge, The Hotel Astor, Sushi Samba, Segafredo, and No 3 Social among others.

Mark is also the brains behind Rambunktious Records Miami and one of the founders of the "Essential Party" which has been running since 2014, mainly during Miami Music Week and Art Basel. The Essential Party has featured artists from the likes of Soul Clap, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, Doc Martin, Danny Krivit, and many others.

Mark's style ranges anywhere from Deep and Soulful House to Nu Disco and having had numerous releases on Midnight Riot, Glasgow Underground as well as other renowned disco labels such as Spa In Disco, the Miami don has packed a punch on this one and sending our guest mixes for the year out with a bang!

GC047 - Brothers  In Arts 🇫🇷

Duo Dj / Producers from the city of Lyon (FR), these brothers of heart are real enthusiasts! Especially in the NuDisco and Jackin House genres, BIA loves groove, retro sounds and festive sounds!

2021 saw the Brothers In Arts reach new heights as they became no. 28  in the top 100 Nu Disco artists and 36 of the top 100 Jackin House artists, on Traxsource.

This is no surprise considering the 2021 they had with releases on Tropical Disco Records, Little Jack, Good Stuff Recordings and Hive.  Their EP "Believe In You" for Midnight Riot, also included remixes by YamWho? and Tommy Glasses.

Not only that but their collaboration with Boogietraxx, entitled "Mango Bongo Guitars" on Super Spicy Records has received a great success and should be released on vinyl in 2022.

With plenty more releases already lined up for 2022, the Brothers certainly have a big year to come!

New year, new m........mixtape! 

To kick off 2022's series of the GC mixtapes we've brought in a quality DJ, good friend of the gang and all round great bloke - Mark Whites 

Mark has been making waves the past year and he blew the roof off our Motorway Disco last year so it only felt right to kick off this year with a mix from him!

With a DJing career spanning 3 decades, playing venues all over the UK, Mark's style has always been feel good tracks to make a dance floor move. 

Mark runs club night MANA as well as holding a number of residencies in bars. Mark is a regular guest with mixes on UK radio shows and can also be found presenting his own 'Feel Good Show' on Housemaster Radio at 6pm Fridays Bi weekly.

Mark burst onto the producing scene in 2020 with a debut top 20 Nu Disco hit 'Feeling Good' on Dubplate Disco Recordings. This was followed up with a collaboration with Wayne Soul Avengerz and Odyssey Inc 'Give Me Your Love' which reached Number 3 on the Traxsource charts.

In 2020 Mark scored a Nu Disco top 10 hit with 'Satisfaction' on the world famous Pornostar Records. He also received a massive accolade of having his track ‘A Message Of Love’ being awarded in the “Hed Kandi Anthems of 2021”

Another Top 10 followed in September 2021 with ‘Savin’ It’ and then a huge National radio play (Kiss FM) of ‘Party People’ have pushed Mark as one of the hottest emerging Nu Disco producers.

This weeks custard mixtape feature, having absolutely blown the roof off our Motorway Disco at the beginning of February, we’ve brought back T Sounds!

Hailing from the south of London and now residing in Liverpool, he has brought his groovy house sound to parties all over the North West and London. 

Over the last couple of years, T has released his own music with the likes of BasementDiscos, Miura, Houseum, Mango Sounds, Rare Wiri and plenty more

With the likes of Michael Gray and Doorly supporting his music and a recent number one in the Nu-Disco chart with his ‘Father EP’ on Rare Wiri and a string of other top 20 chart releases in the last year, 2022 is looking to be a big year for T with multiple singles and EP’s signed and ready to release.

His love and passion for the music is clear to see in his productions and it’s a pleasure to have him back on the series!

Joining us from across the pond for the mixtapes this week, is none other than Mark Picchiotti! 

Established, respected and busy, Mark Picchiotti has been a star DJ, remixer and producer for 30 years. 

Known to get any crowd moving, his DJ career has included Chicago residencies, globe-trotting gigs at the world's most respected nightclubs and star-fueled requests including Janet Jackson, to DJ her JANET album release party and was the official DJ of Reality TV show RuPaulʼs Drag Race US Tour. 

Mark has produced and co-written tracks for two Kylie Minogue albums and released numerous hit singles on luminary labels Defected/Glitterbox, Nervous, Ministry, Strictly Rhythm and more, many finding their way licensed to Film, TV and Video Games. 

Mark has remixed all the top girls (Rihanna, P!NK, Beyonce, Mariah, Madonna), and boys (Daft Punk, U2, The Killers, Enrique, AC/DC)—all Billboard Dance Chart #1s, with an impressive 25 total #1s— Mark is the mastermind behind Glitterbox gospel house act The Absolute and UK top 10 Pop act Basstoy and he continues to release under all his monikers.

One of hottest up & comers around right now is next up to the mixtapes and he's provided us with the finest selection of wax and digital tracks right now!

First things you have to know with Kellit is that ‘the funkier the better’, a statement he encompasses in both his productions and DJ sets. 

Initial underground outings in Birmingham towards the end of his sixth form years was the first taste of the music he has come to know and love.

However, it wasn't until  the full introduction to the Liverpool scene whilst Studying there at University that really cemented this passion. This exposure coupled with heavy influences from his parents' taste in 80's music and disco have really moulded his sound to what it is today.

Kellit’s current direction sees sets full of energy with disco, 80's and acid influences prominent in an all encompassing ‘house’ sound.  Kellit holds releases on labels such See-Saw, Lisztomania, Moiss Music, with a notable number of unreleased projects ready to find a home and many more scheduled for release throughout the year!

Born in 1995, Mark Lower, is a French international NuDisco DJ, producer and remixer.

The Lille based artist started playing records at the age of 11 and quickly started producing his own music, learning alongside Thomas Leclercq, better known as Man Of Goodwill, who taught him everything about making beats.

First producing progressive house and electro, Mark’s tastes has been refined over time and has been producing NuDisco since 2012.

In only a few years, Mark Lower’s rise to prominence has been nothing short of spectacular. His breakout hit 'Bad Boys Cry', released in 2013 on one of New York’s most emblematic House Music label: Nervous Records, has overcome a total of 80 million plays, all streaming platforms combined, and continues to climb steadily.

With a slew of chart topping originals & remixes under his belt since, he continues to see great success in his tracks, evidently on display throughout this great mix!

Hailing from Belgrade, Serbia - Mirko & Meex are present on the house music scene for over 20 years with very recognizable “back2back” performances. 

Their sets are filled with different styles of music from disco, funky and clubhouse, all the way to deep, tech and minimal sounds. 

They have been involved with music production since 2008, and to this day their numerous recordings reached high rankings on global charts and playlists. 

Their single “A Jam”, which was released for Monoside, held a leading spot in its genre for a long time and was particularly noticeable by wide audiences. Soulfuric, Cruise Music, Glasgow Underground and Monoside are only some of the big record labels that recognized their musical quality and for which they have signed a few tracks. As well as their production, they are also the owners of Night Beat Records.

GC059 - Wahine 🇺🇸 

In less than 3 years, Wahine (wah-hee-neh) has risen from total obscurity into a rising star in the disco scene. Winning the Defected Croatia Mix Contest in 2019 and making her international debut at the boutique festival put her on the radar of key tastemakers in the disco and house scene, despite a 10-year hiatus from DJing. 

Wahine co-hosts Spin City on the World’s #1 House Radio Station, MyHouseRadio.fm, in addition to contributing guest mixes to many important shows and radio stations in the genre, including Mi-House, NDC Radio, SWU.fm, Disco Deviance and DiscoDaze. She also writes a guest column for top-ranked house music blog, LeVisiteur.com, and kicked off an interview show for Only Good Vibes in 2021 focused on US-based talent. 

Wahine’s sound can be described as “Disco in Paradise”—sundrenched and full of tropical influences, matching her Hawaiian moniker. Funky licks are spiced with percussive jams with both equal parts brains and brawn. 

This year she began her foray into music production and her early mashups are already receiving support from radio shows from The Black Light Disco to OpenTempo FM.

She joined the Deck-O-Dance DJ Agency and kicked off her first European tour in November 2021 with dates in the UK, Germany, and Ireland. Most recently, she rebooted her tropical-flavored disco event, Wahine’s Hideaway with Scottish disco don, Dicky Trisco in May of this year.

By no means a newcomer - but a fresh face on the disco scene, the weeks mixtape artist - Birdee has managed to carve out quite a path for himself, remixing luminaries such as Aeroplane and Michael Gray, collaborating with legendary singers Barbara Tucker and Angela Johnson, and releasing on Glitterbox, Big Love and Nervous - amongst other labels.

His music is supported by a veritable who's who of dance music: Groove Armada, Purple Disco Machine, Mark Knight and Horse Meat Disco are all fans, while radio support has also been outstanding - as a matter of fact, Pete Tong recently opened his BBC Radio 1 show with Birdee’s breakout single Start The Weekend.

As a perfect send off to an incredibly busy 2021, Birdee was crowned Number 1 Nu Disco Artist of the year on Traxsource, whilst also scoring an impressive Number 7 position in the overall category.
