The group Imarhane Tombouctou from Timbuktu, Azawad, Northern Mali.  The group is: Mohamed Issa Ag Oumar lead vocal and guitar, Ousmane Ag Oumar rhythm guitar and chorus, Fadimata Walet Oumar hand drum and chorus, Zeinabou Walet hand drum and chorus.  On this recording Baba Traore on bass and Hama Sankare on calabash.  All the group are from the Timbuktu region of Mali but after the crisis there, the group members currently live in three places.  Mohamed Issa is living in a refugee camp in Mauritania with his family. Fadimata and Zeina are living in Burkina Fasso with their families. Ousmane moves between the two countries and Mali.  They are all brothers and sisters.  Baba lives in Bamako Mali and Hama lives in Niafunke Mali.  Baba and Hama sat in for these sessions while all the musicians were on tour in North America July 2013.  Recorded, mixed and mastered at Area 52 Studios in Saugerties New York by Dave Cook, this track is from the album "AKAL WARLED" produced by Chris Nolan of Clermont Music records and to be released in CD 18 March 2014 on vinyl 19 April 2014 through distributor Forced Exposure. This title refers to the issue of exile and its penalties. The song speaks of the suffering of the Tuareg, repeatedly refugees in Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso and Algeria, due to the cyclic armed conflict in their regions of northern Mali.

This is a song of farewell. A voyager about to leave says a last goodbye to his family and friends. The singer speaks about a perpetual search for freedom and the beauty of the desert as he is about to travel out across its increasingly hostile landscape.
At dance clubs and private parties in Northern Mali, IMARHAN TIMBUKTU had provided much of the grooving soundtrack to life there over the past 10 years. Grounded in traditional Saharan repertoire, IMARHAN TIMBUKTU developed their unique sound to clearly represent an authentic Tuareg contemporary expression in a music influenced by the sounds of the world. Leila Gobi - Tibo Gadeina

Hama Sankare, legend of Mali’s desert blues, releases Niafunke, his second brilliant album recorded March 2018 in Bamako. Sankare brought into the studio dynamic young headliners, Oumar Konate, Dramane Toure and Makan Camara along with long time colleagues Afel Bocoum, Yoro Cisse and Kande Sissoko to forge a set of blazing tracks that breath new energy into the genre and breaking old formulas all the while honoring traditional roots.

Niafunke, a city in Mali along the Niger River near Timbuktu is where Sankare continues to live with his family. He, Bocoum and Cisse were contemporary collaborators with Ali Farka Toure whose home was also there and they can be heard on many of Farka’s albums.

This album was recorded in 2019 at Studio Bogolan Bamako Mali and mixed / mastered in New York. Their previous album titled simply Al Bilali Soudan was released by Clermont Music in 2012.

This album was recorded in 2019 at Studio Bogolan Bamako Mali and mixed / mastered in New York. Their previous album titled simply Al Bilali Soudan was released by Clermont Music in 2012.

Djaba

This is music comes from Tombouctou / Timbuktu Mali and is performed by Al Bilali Soudan.
Led by Abellow Yattara, the group includes his uncle Aboubacrine Yattara and their sons Mohamed Ag Abellow and Tchiale Ag Aboubacrine. 

This is traditional music played on traditional instruments, tehardent / ngoni / guitar and percussion / calabash. The repertoire is based on traditional themes improvised and adapted by the musicians. The Yattaras can be heard on many recordings from Mali. This is Saharan culture brought into the 21st century
Their lyrics mix Tamasheq, Songhai, French and English
They speak about heroism, love and above all a longing for peace.
