Mid November will see Mexico’s Akbal Music deliver ‘Novoum’ courtesy of Patlac, backed with remixes from Cosmic Cowboys and Timelapse.

Patrick Müller better known as Patlac is a German producer that’s been at the forefront of the underground house scene Northern Germany’s Hamburg for quite some time, initially coming to light alongside the likes of Nick Curly, Matthias Meyer and the Liebe Detail imprint. Here we see him return to Mexico’s Akbal Music, a label home to material from the likes of Kiki, Sasse, Fabio Gianelli and Balcazar & Sordo.

Patlac’s original mix of ‘Novoum’ a slow burning, floaty cut fuelled by airy atmospherics and hooky square wave bass hits alongside tension building strings and Müller’s signature ensnaring percussiveled style.

Following is a remix from Galaktika’s Cosmic Cowboys who stick a darker edge on things with their take, bringing robust rhythms to the forefront alongside bulbous sub hits, while allowing the eerie atmospherics to snake around them. Lastly to close the package Timelapse turn in their interpretation of ‘Novoum’ and the Connaissuer duo deliver a warmly entrancing version with soft chord pads, crunchy percussion and gradually blossoming electronica synth hooks.

Patlac’s ‘Novoum’ EP is out on Akbal Music 23rd November.

Definition presents his own creations once again to Definition:music in the form of the stunning 4 track „Progession LP“. Living up to his reputation, the tracks are as engaging as they are addictive and always pushing the envelopes. 

Opening the show on a warm note; „Come Down feat Liu Bei“ delicately teases us as it blooms into a massive blend of smooth synths and titillating percussion. Midway through weíre treated to an elegantly coordinated break-beat, adding a special touch and unfolding a new dimension to the track. 

The title track is up now. Definition projects an electric landscape in which we ride through the night on a steel horse made of pure electricity toward the peak-time rush and unearth ëProgressioní. A solid track throughout, from the first deliberate kick, to the delicate break and beyond. 

„Janus“ brings thick and gritty bass stabs to a driving tech house groove, creating a blend of deep, dark realms with a hot and steamy pressure. Easing into warmer waters, 

2Caught Out“ is vocally supported or rather enriched through the voice of Peter Joseph. A smooth and cuddly but packing groove that pushes straight into your brain never to release you after listening to it for the first time. This track produces happiness, peace and a good dose of bliss my friends! 

„Without Any Doubt“ slowly rises from nothing and transforms itself into a beast of beautiful orchestra of chords and harps. 

Finally, one last vocal track to bring closure to the LP. „This Mystery feat. Jinadu“ is a power ballad that delivers on all fronts and spreads a warm glow with a solid groove.

The Dystopian boss has had one of his biggest years to date, with countless gigs around the world, usually resulting in pandemonium wherever he goes. His eerie, bell-jangling remix packs a serious amount of dread and angst until it drops into something far more demonic and danceable.

It's aimed purely at the floor and despite the fact the dread is swapped for serenity in the second half, it's one of Rødhåd's most accomplished remixes to date. This will be big.

Lucky number thirteen on San Francisco's @Manjumasi comes from label co-founder Atish. Following hot on the heels of last year's solo debut "Peculiar Colors," Atish returns to the label in fine form with a trio of collaborations. Each named after an amphibian or reptilian creature, the three tracks showcase Atish's musical range.

First up is Bullfrog, produced together with fast-rising German talent @timengelhardt. A chunky percussive bass groove drifts over liquid smooth lily-pads, laying a foundation for the quirky, croaking synth riff that makes the track's heady hook. Second on the package is Chameleon, a collaboration with label co-founder @mcslee. This one is a driving melodic groover that oscillates between musical colors, with a light floating pad melody and slip-sliding glissando synth playing counterpoint to edgy stabs. Rounding out the package is Tortoise, a team effort with SF talent @bengalsf. Like the animal, this tune is slow-moving and wise, demonstrating strength through patience in the form of a groove that gently meanders and builds with rich detail.
