These artists have often worked together before on labels like Jeahmon! Records and always blend funk, groove and soul perfectly.

Bang kicks off with a percolating and dark groove that's infused with mysterious late night melodies and a sense of tension that never lets up. Pwani feat. Idd Aziz has an Afro feel to the drums and spine tingling chords that when arrive in unison with the spiritual vocals take you to a higher emotional plane.

Tribe feat. Tabia then keeps the celestial energy with more bright chords and a vocal that delivers piercing emption. Bang (Yost Koen Rework) closes down with a more urgent rhythm but still plenty of lush chord work and sparkling percussion.

All four of these tracks combine escapist melody with hypnotic drums for big impact on both heart and heel.

Astral Records rounds out the spring season by welcoming Senses Of Mind to the label for their debut single. Hailing from Belgium, Kynan Nonneman and Miles Vanderlooven perform as Senses Of Mind with a rare feeling of mutual connection, with their inventive use of melody and rhythm that challenges the listener with unexpected but intuitive turns and compelling grooves. It's this rich production with fire-starting spontaneity which has seen the duo showcase their music via esteemed imprints in Infinite Depth, Running Clouds, Steyoyoke and Untold Stories. Perhaps most notable however was ‘Death Of A String', the duo's well-received debut via Fideles' Impressum as part of the label's ‘Symbiosis Two' collection in 2023. Also accomplished DJs, Senses Of Mind have taken their impeccable track selection and smooth programming skills to iconic stages, from the pulsating beats of Dour Festival to the rhythmic heartbeat of famed Belgian venue Fuse club. With 2025 being highlighted by a performance atop the Mercury Tower in Malta, Senses Of Mind now enter the summer season on a momentous high, making their Astral Records debut with ‘Pulsating Theory', alongside a remix from Braynod.

Beginning with the original mix the long-standing duo masterfully synthesize their creative talents for a proper peak time affair. Wrapped in a modern club-effective blueprint are obsessive rhythms, hyperspace stabs and clustered synth mutations, while thunderous kick drums and momentous grooves keep the gas decisively ‘on'. Flexing their craftsmanship further across the break, it's a tension filled build which steals the air, before dropping out into a cavernous wasteland of sonic artefacts for a charged finale.

The release concludes with Braynod making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Pulsating Theory'. Hailing from Malta, Braydon Azzopardi aka Braynod has been a fixture of his country's electronic underground across the last five years. The Senglea resident first rose to prominence with a pair of early projects for Droid9 South America and Symmetric, where he established a melodic, progressive style that made him a name to watch. Continuing to perfect and evolve his craft going forward, Braynod would re-define his sound, incorporating techno elements while never losing sight of his original melodic approach. It was this cohesive vision which would see the Maltese artist add projects via Lelantus and his own Vestige Records imprint. Perhaps the most noteworthy discography credit would be the April release of ‘QUEMA QUEMA', an ERRORR vehicle co-produced alongside Mila Journée and Tekzee. Now, continuing on this exploitative path, Braynod makes his Astral Records debut in fine style with a rousing interpretation of ‘Pulsating Theory'. Taking a peaktime approach, Braynod toughens up the framework with driving kick drums, fluid rhythmic pulses and a pyrotechnic deconstruction of the lead theme. Its looping hypnotism delivers highwire tension throughout, multiplied further by a frenetic break, as ping-pong sonics eventually give way to a finale guaranteed to tip any dance floor over the edge.

Finding a home on Particles, a score of credits has seen a pair of original EPs in the shape of the “Spirals” and “Crouch/Cursed” offerings, while work with Forniva saw the “Unite Divide” EP realised in mid-2017. Solo work finds its epicentre with May 2016’s “The Unholy Mountain” as the three-track EP showcased the strength and diversity of the Desaturate sound while a trio of remixes extended the EP further.

Now returning to Proton Music after a pair of remixes of Nocturna and Pete K in spring 2017, Desaturate’s three-track “Wanderer” EP is a joy to behold. Opener, “Stranded” revels in a free-flowing shimmering lead that evolves elegantly with its filtered and gated effects creating a swathe of patterns. A crisp, hypnotic shell provides rhythmic urgency as a strong beat and running bass line add to the dynamism.

The title track continues the rhythmic themes of its predecessor as a filtered running bass pattern and ticking percussive hi-hats, creates a locked-tight backdrop for a subtle arpeggio sequence to emerge from the lower frequencies, making its presence felt in a gated, swirling breakdown. Building further in the third movement, a pulsating pad adds further depth and texture in a work that creates quite a voyage through its sonic architecture.

Final track, “Unto Each Other” revels in a huge and cavernous bass line that underlies a shuffling hi-hat triplet rhythm. Building in intensity and melodic form as it develops, a rippling, sparkling breakdown showcases the Desaturate skill-set as a female vocal cut adds further balance. Creating a wonderful musical collage in the third movement, Desaturate has created a work of talent and innovation.

A musical triptych sees the “Wanderer” return as Proton Music welcomes Desaturate back into the fold.
