Rich Daddies - Heaven (STW Premiere)

Rich Daddies offer their first EP on Naarm/Melbourne-based Best Effort Records. The Get Close EP is the debut disc by the anonymous Australian housemates made during one of the longest lockdowns in the world.

Over the course of four tracks, the duo draws influences from UKG and bass music with parallels to fellow Australian producers Logic1000 and DJ Plead.

Dance music to help us remember how to dance, how to hug, how to fall in love. Essential party disc!

Hessle Audio welcomes Toumba to the label with the 4 track EP 'Petals'. Based in Amman, Jordan, Toumba explores Levantine microtonality, rhythms, play styles and timbres across the record. Lead track 'Istibtan' is a twist on a typical Jordanian wedding song with deep subs providing the foundations, complimented by crisp percussion and warm melodics.

Toumba is a producer, DJ and sound designer and is a curator at MNFA, a club and arts space in Jordan's capital Amman. A nationally respected artist, Toumba also holds a residency at the MMAG Foundation. The foundation works with a selection of the most gifted artists in the Levant, providing a space for artistic research, production and critical discourse.

Telefon Tel Aviv have mastered the art of balancing the bitter-sweet romance and occasionally excessive melancholy of so many 80s electro-pop pearls, dusting off their retro sleeves and presenting them in the form of lavish melodic epics. The new EP features the intoxicatingly beautiful album opener “The Birds” in its original version and in two remixes that could hardly be more contrasting: BPC label boss Ellen Allien spontaneously blows away the sombre fog clouds of the original with a crisp house beat and vibrant acid sequences.
Ghostly International co-founder and self-confessed Brian Eno fan Matthew Dear has already revealed his distinct fondness for sinister soundscapes on his own album Black City and his remixes for The Chemical Brothers, The XX and The Drums. His version of “The Birds” occupies ambiguous stylistic territory, combining amiable singer-songwriter elements with electronica of considerable atmospheric density. With the track “The Sky Is Black” TTA deliver a song that BPC aficionados have already encountered on the BPitch Werkschau compilation. Getting its first EP release here, The Sky Is Black follows on seamlessly from The Birds with its lavish use of fabulous hooks and atmospherics. None other than Cocteau Twins co-founder Robin Guthrie makes an appearance here as co-author, gitarist and soul mate – the perfect soundtrack, and not just for bleak winter days and frosty nights...

Altson 45 is the collaborative brain trust of Sydney producers PMA and Point Guard. The wildest boys in Newtown's deepest dens, they prefer to make tunes well into the after-hours. Untitled Rhythm is an EP consisting of two hazy house cuts dedicated to those “Friends, selectors, Dreamers of dreams and acid house cowboys” ... yeeeehaaaa! 

Lead track Untitled Rhythm grips the nips with this gritty broken beat bender. A perfect chugging bass line working like you wish a club toilet would, cut vocals that just glide in and some smooth work on the pots and pans. Back To You has your head spinning like that 4th shot of tequila you are now reconsidering as a “great idea” none the less you gotta keep on and power through the slurry words and terrible dance moves. These two have nailed the art of glossy pads as well, that's for sure oohhfff.
