XO-5 and Cyberian Relic emerge from the cities of Ivanovo and Nadym with a hot mix of Lo-Fi House and Leftfield Ambient, alongside touches of Disco and Phonk. Forming an understated Rave Sound that works just as easily whilst fucked up and glued to Mario Cart YouTube clips, as it does renegade funk siren that beckons an unseen & unknown Eastern bloc TikTok generation onto their home bassment dancefloors.

From the distorted thump, windy pads, squelchy TB-303, and muffled vocal of the EP’s joint artist opener “Loveless”, to overdriven bells, trap house chug, and drilling bassline of Cyberian Relic solo effort “Fading”, with its introspective lead line reminiscent of Closer Musik’s seminal 2002 cut “Maria” - fyi a compliment of the highest order (in this humble writers opinion anyway!) Back to the artist combo and 135BPM clanging onslaught of “Night Caprise” - a thrilling crank of full frontal house (albeit on the harder edge) with rubbery bassline and looping disco vocal giving way to massive breakbeat breakdowns and sure to have skulls moving out of their usual back of the crowd nodding orbits into hearty headbang territory. EP ender “I Was Never Around” finds XO-5 on their own rounding out the selection in grand fashion: all big chords and big emotions. A percussive belting. Tweaked out vocals, and white noise house beats. Wherever the geo-political landscape of where one resides, we love to discover artists pushing their personal boundaries, upping each others ante’s and creating techno magic from locations often overlooked and undercooked in our New World Order. In a time and space that has replaced all reality and meaning with symbols and signs, and where human experience is a simulation of reality, we are thrilled to receive these coded transmissions coming deep from the underground of the simulacrum. Making music that is far from loveless.

Nestled close to Italo Disco, Dream House emerged as a sub-genre within House and Trance music in the latter half of the 90s in Europe, championed by labels like Dance Floor Corporation (DFC) and ZYX Records.

We've collaborated with emerging talents from across the globe to curate a diverse array of sub-sub-genres. Lone Saxon captures the authentic essence of 90's Dream House with this intricate jam, Alex Aguayo presents a breezy club anthem perfect for a "closing your eyes on the dancefloor session".

The young MLF debuts with a high-energy house track featuring plenty of M1 stabs, COHN offers a deeper twist, Yotam brings a breaky junglistic take, Romain FX delivers classic dreamy piano riffs and a touch of gated vocals reminiscent of the rave era, My Boy Roy from Mexico contributes lush, long-flying chords and a deep groove, and last but not least, the Japanese duo Kross Section concludes the compilation with an analog-tape-sounding, break-infused gem.

«During COVID, everything changed for me, as for many others. I began to stay more alone, abstracting from other people's opinions and advice, listening more and more to myself. This is how the idea of Echodive came about, which can be compared to white label records: you listen, and you don't know who performs them. Music should always be in the foreground. Still, I'm not a pop artist and I'm not going to be one.

Then the war started, because of the constant shelling, I often left the studio for safer places, such as the subway and underground parking lots, where Luxx was written. A lot has changed, both inside me and in relation to creating music. The tracks were written on a laptop, to which I connected cheap headphones and a small midi keyboard. Since I can't work in the studio because of f*ckin russia...

We came across Marlborough UK, based producer Tom Jarmey amidst taking a break from studying a degree in Geography. Like most students taking a gap year, he found himself in the classic pilgrimage across South-East Asia - and we assume preparing for which may have had some influence on the particular brand of heartwarming house vibes heard on Tom’s debut EP “Beach Jazz”.

Smooth AF with swirling bird chirps, rambling chats and guitar licks for day, it's no surprise “Beach Jazz ft. MarBlu” clocked up half a million plays on its Youtube premiere. From there, Jarmey takes a sharp turn heading for the vibe equator with the heavy lifting “Fiji” (resplendent with distorted percussion and a break beat bass twist), before heading once again into daylight territory with EP closer “What Does Honey Taste Like” - all luscious pads and sun soaked strings and a groove that reaffirms (for us at least) that Tom Jarmey not be a name soon forgotten.

30th release. I guess it's funny how time flies. 

Speaking of "Time", Albert Einstein said “Time is an illusion”, while Andy Warhol once wrote “They say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself”. But of all musing about Time, I like the author Marthe Troly-Curtin’s quote best that “Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time”. 

When it’s 6am and you’re stood in a forest somewhere unknown - the sun coming up, and you’re surrounded by friends, while electronic rhythms vibrate through you, shirtless, twisting your body as though participating in some sort of ancient tribal neon ritual. Yeah, you get it. 

The track “Time” by New York based artist Monolithic, is an expansive inducer of vibe. A luscious slice of clangin’ housewerk that captures the listener in its mix of swirling pads, IDM riddims and warm jets of bass. Somewhere in the fog, a female siren emerges, calling out “All I Need Is Time. All I Need Is Time. Make This Feel Right” - drawing you in, closer and deeper. And much like that magical 6am rave hour, you lose yourself in the moment. Time enjoyed, indeed!

UrbnMowgli & Moodrich - E-Motions EP [CLIPP158]

UrbanMowgli and Moodrich are a couple of German based lads that love belting out tha tunes. They mix it up here for an EP consisting of a couple collaborative efforts, paired with two solo originals -  which both complement each other and also gives definition to their easily interchangeable electro aesthetics.

Opener “E-Motions” might fall into what you would traditionally recognise as an immediate classic lo-fi house flavour: resonate electric keys, clanging house beats, playful lead, a soulfully unrecognizable vocal hook. Or as we like to call it “melodic nostalgia”. It’s all there and sets the mood (sic) like a butt print on your couch - familiar and welcoming.

UrbnMowgli goes solo on “Cocco My Love” and glides between breakbeat and house patterns with splashes of soul flirting in the corner with some sweet italo lead arpeggiation. It’s that gelato flavour you always order cause you can’t simply stop licking. Go ahead, you do you, man.

There’s no conspiracy that Moodrich’s follow up “Deep State” goes.. erm.. Deep? But it still brings enough in the way of motorik riddims, euphoric backing vocals and a healthy dose of acid bassline to likely get at least 2 out of 5 RA podcast hosts lens cleaning & chin-stroking in semi-approval. 

EP closer “Astral Journeys” reunites these Berlin buddies on a dreamy chugger that feels too fast, yet slows the feels right down. This is music for dancing around your kitchen with a glass of wine, while you have a pasta bake in the oven, under the glow of those christmas lights you decided to put up 5 months before the actual holiday season. Pour yourself another cup of E-Motions. You deserve it.

And on the 5th day, Murg graciously delivered unto thee, o disciples of the rave, a trilogy of true school 140bpm shellers, bestowed upon you the form of “Psychedelia”, and it thumped and it was good. The second EP from the Newcastle UK lad, “Psychedelia” continues the journey from his self-released “Peugeots and Rave Stabs” but cranks the turbo factor up to rave-a-delic three hundred and three. Title track “Psychedelia” wastes no time letting you know what time it is - time you took a measurement of your heartbeat is it was time it is, ‘cause this tune raises the temperature like dropping that white dove you found inside the piggy bank in the bedroom at your parents place, right before a hardcore F45 workout. Nezt up, “Acid On Acid” does exactly what is advertised on the back of the box, and if you find yourself partial to a squiggly devilfish bassline, this one will fit neatly in your rave hole. Lastly, just when you thought you could get none more old school, EP closer “Break the Trip” hits you with the rave voltage. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself shuffling like an absolute madman to this one. Make no mistakes, this whole release clamps around your leg like lock-jaw. Rave.
