Welofi is very proud to present a short, but such a heavy hitting EP from HESTER (Ireland). He really knows how to produce a real dance vibes and his talents are on full display throughout. 
The EP, entitled Days At Home, is three tracks of groovy house with colored ghetto pads. In it HESTER uses simple patterns, but at the same time he does not forget about combinations of chords with the aim of get your body move.

Hoshina Anniversary - Gekokujo [CLIPP201]

Following two striking EPs and a full length album through Lovefingers' excellent ESP Institute label, techno innovator Hoshina Anniversary arrives on clipp.art with the intensely adventurous “Gekokujo”. A brief debrief of the Tokyo-based DJ & producer shows him turning out fascinating music for over a decade, journeying through abstract techno, experimental deep house and drone-core. Sonic voyages that always explore the boundaries of the Japanese musical scale, with more than a few bangers as a result.

Gekokujo the term itself roughly translates to "the low overcomes the high" and the three movements of the release itself create a swirling cauldron of contrasts. Gekokujo and Gekokujo II find Hoshina Anniversary at home with his self-styled 'watechno' sound - infusing electronic fundamentals with jazz sensibilities and subtle Japanese aesthetics. Dueling tracks laden with audio contrast, meandering crunchy stabs, wilding out LFO’s, clashing percussive time signatures, rising arpeggiated motifs and dystopian breakdowns, all stepped against clanging 4/4 high hats. Kaguya Hime (either influenced by the titular character from Studio Ghibli film The Tale of the Princess Kaguya or 10th century Japanese folklore monogatari The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter) pits wigged out circular synth sonics against a bubbling acid-y bassline before giving way to straight up Herbie Hancock expressionism. As we start to close the chapter on another year of ups and downs inside the simulacrum, we face the challenges of discerning our own groove from the melee, wondering which patterns will repeat in 2022. The low overcomes the high, only to be replaced by the low.. the cycle continues.

Premiere: Florian - Between The Lines [Sengiley]

Originally from Normandy now residing in the country's capital, French DJ and producer Adam Boufeldja (aka Adam BFD) has been making a serious name for himself, having put out a string of self-released singles and through his own self-titled Youtube channel.

Adam’s tracks have always been vivid, detailed portraits; drawing from memories and influences from around the world, and his latest EP on Running Out Of Steam is no exception; using his eclectic tastes to produce a record truly unique, and brimming with personality.

‘I’ll be walking’ meanders through an always evolving city, creating space and sense of an otherwise chaotic and fleeting world. The track’s softly spoken synths hold the torch, while the effortless drums walk us home. ‘Call A Taxi’ follows suit, a fruitful marriage between shuffling drum patterns and hypnotic tones, while the track's subtle low-end provides the glue; closing off an A side that feels more like a story being told than another dance-floor memento.

Title track ‘No Advice’ launches the B side on a slightly more ominous tone, in a microcosmic portrait of opposing forces; before ‘An Ode To La Condesa’ glides through like a letter from an old friend, the smell of fresh ink still prevalent on the page as we’re whisked away through the wide-tree lined avenues of La Condesa. The EP comes to a close with ‘For The Good Times’ combining nostalgic tinged leads, forward-marching drums and sprawling pads that act as a backdrop to another highly impressive EP from one of France’s best emerging artists.

“When I started to work on this track, I could not envision how it would turn out, I was just making it, bit by bit. After doing the first beats, I made the bassline using Reaktor. The sound and the sequence reminded me a bit of the old school stuff from The Hacker and David Carreta and the idea of inviting Kittin to do the vocals came to mind. She said she loved the track and she was gonna do the vocals and the result could not be better. I am a huuuge fan of hers going back many years and I have a lot of her records from when I started playing, right through to her recent productions. I remember when she went to Brazil about 15 years ago to play at one of the most loved clubs there at the time called Lov.e. I could not be there but I saw her on TV when she gave an interview on one of the country’s biggest channels. I vividly remember calling all my family to see it – I felt a huge admiration for her, her music, her style and everything about her. And I still do! I was a 17-year-old living in the Brazilian countryside at the time watching one of my idols on TV and could never have imagined that one day we would be doing a track together.
