The concept of “lo-fi house” is a bit “ugh” by now but like any genre done right it transcends the momentary meme attached. If the song fits, there will be a dancefloor somewhere for it live. Even if it’s in a forest among the trees that nobody hears falling. Felix lives in Szczecin, Poland and he makes music that does exactly this. We first visited his version of lush piano tinkering meets hot-pumpy lo-fi house aesthetic on the track ‘Fantasies’ from the inaugural ‘высокий спрос’ compilation (CLIPP143) in April 2020. “высокий спрос. vol 1” showcased underground artists & producers residing in Eastern Europe and the Russian Federation bumping out the boundaries between Eastern and Western European dance music and obviously we loved Felix’s track to invite him back for more! The song he wrote for us “Dreaming of You” continues gliding between the airy dreamlike factor & bumping house beats of his previous work but with the added vibe of Felix’s own introspective vocal styling. And we equally love this one! It steps up because it goes beyond the usual stylistic tropes and creates its own dream-logic. Its a song for pondering the meaning of life as you stare aimlessly into the glassy 5am water on Swinoujscie Beach in the Polish Springtime. Where if you start now and just keep walking you’ll end up in Germany on the same stretch of sand. Dreaming of you.

“Best Keep Walking” finds the Gold Coast based artist throwing down a challenge to those that like to dance fast with a lot of foot-steps. Hailing from vibrant crossroads of Lebanese and African heritage, YAOB is a producer and creator doing his thing in Melbourne Australia. Plastic GRN made his debut on clipp.art half way through 2019 with the fiercely funky “Ohh Perck”, a major weapon in the fight against Funk Inequality®, which graced many a USB stick. Since then we’ve seen the end of the world in both viral and artificial intelligence senses (editor note: ok maybe just “the start” of the end of the world), and plenty of changes of the guard in musical taste and attitude. In 2024, Plastic GRN returns with his Lost Mary EP - a short collection of biting bangers aimed squarely at the centre of the dance floor. Beginning with the broken robot energy of “FM2”, a wake up call for the troops, with a powerful second act guaranteed to elicit rhythmic finger pointing at speakers. Then sliding into titular track “Lost Mary” a piano stabbed belter that harkens back to the power hour of 2000’s french house (ed: see Institubes et al Surkin, Das Glow, etc). Closing out the trio of tasty thumpers is “Blissim”, a rave-tastic sirens call to pick up arms (and legs). Seriously people, these shapes ain’t going to cut themselves. Yeah, times change, people move, attitudes evolve, Barbie should've won all the Oscars. Sometimes you are lost, sometimes you are found. And sometimes we feel like observers, trying to understand the movement of the stars, watching the red shift and trying to make sense of it all. Thankfully Plastic GRN is shining a light so we can find our way in the dark. Of the dancefloor.

Sounds Like A Good Mixtape- Plastic GRN [CLIPPMIX090]

If you’re a Melbourne, Sydney or Perth resident, chances are you’ve already heard of ‘Clipp.Art’. The Fitzroy based collective of music pals come together with like-minded local crews to throw lo-velocity dance parties under the “Sounds Like A Good Time” brand. Over the past six months, they’ve built a more-than-impressive portfolio of parties across Australia’s capital cities. Calling upon the deejaying talents of DJ Seinfeld, Ross From Friends, Bloody Mary, Demuja, DJ Boring, Coeo, Auntie Flo and more, on the reg. Apart from gifting us with these international treats, Clipp.Art offers space behind the decks to showcase burgeoning regional talent (Eduardo Muchacho, Georgia Bird, Shouse, James Pepper). Their current summer series of free events goes down every Sunday evening in Sydney’s “Byrondi” sector, with acts including Gerd Janson, Sandboards and Black Loops.

Clipp.Art takes another big step in their contribution to the local scene, with the launch of their own start-up record label. From February 2018 onwards, the new Clipp.Art imprint promises an ongoing series of weekly/bi-weekly digital cuts - complemented by the occasional limited edition split artist 12 inch. First up to the plates is Melbourne artist, Cassettes For Kids, with single release “Pleasure” - a smooth summer mover, built around a slow winding vocal drone that resolves itself inside an abrasive crescendo of shuffling paper-cut hi-hats and detroity pads. Add super-soaker levels of bass-line and you have the recipe for good times ahead.

Having toured Australia for the first time with Clipp.Art in 2017, the Austrian-based DJ and producer was asked if he’d like to try his hand at remixing an upcoming single by SHOUSE (an act he played alongside while in Melbourne). The result is a classic Demuja deep disco house cut with oddles of raw groove built around an already infectiously soul-full vocal.

30th release. I guess it's funny how time flies. 

Speaking of "Time", Albert Einstein said “Time is an illusion”, while Andy Warhol once wrote “They say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself”. But of all musing about Time, I like the author Marthe Troly-Curtin’s quote best that “Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time”. 

When it’s 6am and you’re stood in a forest somewhere unknown - the sun coming up, and you’re surrounded by friends, while electronic rhythms vibrate through you, shirtless, twisting your body as though participating in some sort of ancient tribal neon ritual. Yeah, you get it. 

The track “Time” by New York based artist Monolithic, is an expansive inducer of vibe. A luscious slice of clangin’ housewerk that captures the listener in its mix of swirling pads, IDM riddims and warm jets of bass. Somewhere in the fog, a female siren emerges, calling out “All I Need Is Time. All I Need Is Time. Make This Feel Right” - drawing you in, closer and deeper. And much like that magical 6am rave hour, you lose yourself in the moment. Time enjoyed, indeed!

Soul Wun - The Realist [CLIPP039]

“healing” begins to open up from the haze that “fog” leaves. The title has a lot of meaning behind this one, laced with distant vocals telling you to “let the healing into your heart”. The track encapsulates the title of the EP, an emotional shift towards happiness, peace of mind, hope, and (some) clarity. This track was written with a lot of personal hardships on CD’s mind from a recent relationship, and always pictured being entranced by it at the end of a long set in the club.

“fog” takes you through a journey of a lapse of clarity. It’s a hard hitter, with a very serious undertone behind it. This one is definitely meant for feeling “something” on the dance floor. At around 5:50 into the track, it shifts into a bone rattling trance of glistening synths, kinda meant as a glimpse into what’s to come.

“IF U WANT IT” is our first micro-album project on clipp.art, and comes via 24 year old female Korean singer, songwriter, rapper, house and techno DJ "박혜진 park hye jin”.

Korean born, 박혜진 park hye jin is a resident DJ at Pistil Dance Club, with regular broadcast performances on Seoul’s independent underground radio “SCR”. Her style blends elements of dream-state house, raw hip-hop & psychedelic darkwave and mixes her own English and Korean vocals over dreamy synths & thick beats for a forward-thinking dancefloor experience.

Title track IF U WANT IT, has park hye jin singing a duet with herself in Korean over a bangin 4/4 beat, followed rapidly by ABC which finds park croon in English over a smoky piano line before tumbling effortlessly into a motorik fashioned middle breakdown. From there we shift gears, sliding into the deep thunder of Korean vocaled I DON’T CARE, the abyss of CLOSE EYES, before sailing endlessly into the moonlight on EP closer, CALL ME.

We are completely thrilled to present you this exciting underground talent coming out of Seoul.

“IF U WANT IT” is our first micro-album project on clipp.art, and comes via 24 year old Korean singer, songwriter, rapper, house and techno DJ 박혜진 park hye jin. Currently residing in Korea, park hey jin is a resident DJ at Pistil Dance Club, with regular broadcast performances on Seoul’s independent underground radio “SCR”. Her style blends elements of dream-state house, raw hip-hop & psychedelic darkwave and mixes her own English and Korean vocals over dreamy synths & thick beats for a forward-thinking dancefloor experience. 

Title track “IF U WANT IT”, has park hye jin singing a duet with herself in Korean over a bangin 4/4 beat, followed rapidly by “ABC” which finds park croon in English over a smoky piano line before tumbling effortlessly into a motorik fashioned middle breakdown. From there we shift gears, sliding into the deep thunder of Korean vocaled “I DON’T CARE”, the abyss of “CLOSE EYES”, before sailing endlessly into the moonlight on EP closer, “CALL ME”. 

We are completely thrilled to present you this exciting underground talent coming out of Seoul.

Clipp.art’s first 12” is finally here! Who else to give the froff lords what they want but the one and only 1-800 Girls with his debut EP entitled ‘U, Me and Madonna’. Blood, sweat and a whole lot of creative juices have got the clipp family to this point and we are thrilled to finally have some physical tuna for the people.

1-800 Girls has been on the move of late with shows all over the UK, international dates in Malta and Poland and recently debuting on Rinse FM. This new ep ‘U, Me and Madonna EP’ is a continuation of his highly successful track U, Me and Madonna premiering on Houseum last year. To date, the track has almost two and a half million spins on youtube... Everyone remembers that little kid dancing fabulously to the new york skyline.

Three new tracks including the reimagined ‘Sundown edit’ of ‘U, Me and Madonna’ have that distinctive 1-800 Girls sound however a bit more upbeat and including killer euphoria outros. The second track on the ep would take any dancefloor on an adventure through the deep jungle. Wondering acid lines and some of the smoothest pads we have heard in a while, some kids may never return from the jungle you put them in. Track three ‘All Day, All Night’ is the magic tool of the release breaking up the soundwaves with this moving heavy bass line chugger. It may even push you through to the 13th hour of your Sunday morning kick ons. Overall 1-800 Girls has put some proper talent into this release and we have to give him serious props for his craft.

DJ Whipr Snipr started Nerang Recordings with his Australian friends back in 2016 and now like a typical rug rat is residing in Berlin so clearly there is no slowing this train down. After what I would describe as a “cheeky” release titled “I’m Tired” last year with your favorite label, he returns to the clipp.art fold with friends Birdwatcher & Grey People to collaborate on a new two-track ep clearly created in the midst of the sesh. Both tracks have their own flavours but come together as one emotional combo to address the partie. Hard hitting like the raves Whipr has been grinding since moving to Germania, you can hear how the locale flora and fauna has influenced his work with a maturity that wasn’t previously apparent. Schegg stands for “Scaled Chord Harmony & Electronic Groove Grounds” and pretty much speaks for itself. Like most of his contemporaries Schegg's musical journey winds its way through many different styles & influences but it was his enthusiasm for vintage-sound tracks often combined with tribal rhythms, strong chords and silky vocals, mixed between raw house, and disco elements, with a hot plate of some oldschool techno tropes that found its way on our clipp.art sound system.

John Andersson aka Zoo Brazil is a living legend in the game - a Swedish multi platinum Grammy-nominated record producer, songwriter and DJ residing in Stockholm. His discography of releases from over 20 years showcases a work ethic unparalleled by most modern producers, with gems found all over his writing and production credits and more than a few bangers! Anyone that loves Rüfüs should get around his song “Hearts a Legend” from 10 years ago - one of my year's favourite underrated TUNES for sure. Amazingly we’ve been pals since the mid 2000’s after meeting in a club in Melbourne, bonding through a mutual vibe of analogue recording techniques, synths and drum machines, and have wanted to work together on a project for equally as long. So it was especially cool when John presented us a bunch of music specifically made for clipp.art! Though the intention was to take Ibiza by storm this year with this collection of tracks that bump between the tougher spectrum of house, french touch, and opus’s for the Burning Man amulet wearing glitterati, after COVID struck we decided to break these tunes down to a series of double AA side thumpers, starting here with “Outputs / Lions”. The first of the duo “Outputs” delivers all the goodness of heady evenings, ecstasy soaked brains and dancefloors, dust pouring out of your boots the following morning, etcetera. The whistle lead a lighthouse beacon moving you over wave upon wave of pure dance emotion. You are correct - this is E music, people. On the flip, “Lions” glides into view like the mirage of Lee Foss riding a segway on the playa at 7am, bee’s pouring out of his mouth Candyman style.. Wait, was today "take Acid day", or no? Too late. The propulsive grid of beats and bassline has you and is stretching you multiple directions like paint all over the art car. The siren song of good times. Enjoy these two special tunes, yes, there is more to come! And be kind to yourselves and others. Namaste.

Belfast’s blk(be-el-kay) is shining the dark light over a new generation of Ireland based producers creating authentically fierce hardstyle & techno. Followers may recall the blk track "I Need a Boiler Room" from our SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD TIME III compilation which made an indelible impression on mentalists everywhere, was featured in The Blessed Madonna's recent Boiler Room" set (go check it on on Apple Music), as well as the shtonking Mixmag Lab set by London’s ABSOLUTE. A fine addition to the intersecting sets of discerning good music and techno afficando’s everywhere. His debut EP "Don't Talk, Just Listen" comprising 5 all new tracks that fall in no certain order between the realm of A1 bangers, dance floor belters, party shellers, head stompers, and nose bleeding thumpers. (fun fact: the legendary Jesse F Keeler of Death From Above 1979 and MSTRKFT mastered these tracks for maximum heavy dance voltage, a further stamp of approval i cannot fathom). 
You’re curious. So put your hand in the box and let’s see who the Kwisatz Haderach truly is. 
Opening track “6667888” beckons you into the corridor of booom. You sense something happening in the warehouse down the street. From the rattle in your teeth, the hairs on your arms. There is electricity in the air. You feel that already. Electricity, like Thor’s hammer about to come down harder than the Tuesday night after Dekmantel finishes. You clearly chose the red pill. Duh! “Kick Out” follows and as the beads of sweat start to percolate to the surface of your forehead you find yourself diving into the oncoming river rapids. It’s ok, you are the river. You are the rocks. You are the sand. You are the jam. Kick out the jams. “Johnny Cage Wins” marks the halfway point and by now the dark energy of this music has you, and is about to pull your head off, spine and all. It’s true. The rush is in full effect. There’s no longer any point fighting it. Struggling will make it worse. This tune will beat you but it's a flawless victory. Double Fatality. Just give in and be swept along. But it's all good as you come up so does the tempo of “Girl” and whirling pads wrap around you like a multicolored euphoric serpent. Sssssssss. The cathedral like “Girl Descendent” completes the circuit and we approach the event horizon of this techno ritual. You have valiantly welcomed this release into every crack of your body. You are soaked with endorphins. Your eyes need a hug. You have been elevated by the spiritually enhanced hard style of blk. It’s ok. Shhhh. Don’t Talk. Just Listen.
