Welcoming Kalou for the 13th edition of The Potato Series, Kalou A.K.A Sal Thijssen currently resides in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Since the winter of 2016, after extensively producing the more low-BPM Soul/Disco-influenced Deep House for years, he gradually moved on to Lo-Fi House. Last year, Kalou put two releases on Villes Et Fleurs (of which one of them is in this mix) and was part of the first VA of Ocean Drive Radio.  " My goal with this mix was to let all the niches I like blend together in one hour, with both old and new releases."

Born and raised in Hammersmith, West London, Solomon Rose aka. Silkie, is a British DJ and Producer and has established himself as one of the key names in the global dubstep scene since starting his music career in the early 2000s. 

His unique style has led him to collab with artists such as Quest, Harry Craze, Razor Rekta, Jay 5ive and Mizz Beats to create Antisocial Entertainment. 

He has released 4 albums, various EPs and singles on prominent labels such as Antisocial Records, Deep Medi, Skream’s Disfigured Dubz and Soul Jazz, and he is currently spearheading his new label Bedroom Rat Records, which is a nostalgic homage to UK Garage combined with more forward thinking experimental club sounds. 

Silkie has toured around the world sharing his music in events and festivals such as Outlook, Fabriclive, Eastern Electrics, and Subdub in Europe, South America, the US, Japan and New Zealand.

In 2023, Silkie decided to start formally sharing his knowledge and experience, creating the bass music educational platform, Antisocial Audio.

Hailing from The Hague, The Netherlands, Kalou is a product of the vibrant musical atmosphere that surrounded him during his upbringing in the '90s. His household resonated with the melodies of Soul, Jazz, R&B, and Reggae, thanks to his father's constant immersion in these genres. This early exposure sparked Kalou's passion for collecting music at a tender age.

When he discovered electronic music, he was instantly hooked, prompting him to delve into spinning and producing as well. Over the years, his musical journey traversed through genres like 00s Dance, Soulful House, Deep House, and Lo-Fi House. Despite his varied interests, Trance music has always held a special place in his heart, evoking nostalgic memories of carefree days from his childhood, often reminiscent of riding in the back of his mom's car with the radio on.

Amidst the resurgence of the trance genre, Kalou has made a triumphant return! His ambition is to blend the euphoric sounds reminiscent of the '90s with present-day trance releases, often carrying nostalgic echoes of radio hits from the 2000s.
