Having grown up in both Japan and the United States, aeonfade's first medium of choice was photography. With the attention veered towards the urban geography and the affect of light in provoking emotion, the electronic music he produces also has a sense of place. Whether on the go in the web of the city or at an underground hideout, the way he spent his days and nights in the streets can be heard in his sound. 

aeonfade's tracks have been featured on NTS Radio, Subtle Radio, Rinse FM, and BBC Radio Bristol in the past, along with a recent guest mix through Valley. His soundscapes echo between inner-city desolation and an idyllic sense of yearning a lost utopia, all in the digital and visceral language of kaleidoscopic percussions and field recordings displayed with a diverse palette.

Following up from work on Björk´s 'Fossora', Icelandic trio 'sideproject' debut on SVBKVLT with their new full-length album 'sourcepond'. Taking influence from the fog-covered wetlands of their native island, sideproject transfigure influences from the low-end frequencies of grime and bass music, and reshape it into a haze of transient-smeared beats accompanied by breathy synths that grow ever wetter till they slip beneath the surface tensions of their harmonic stratum. Compared to previous output, 'sourcepond' opts for a more concise approach to their music, stacking up their influences of experimental electronic, Icelandic punk and contemporary club music, and builds a sound that oscillates between melodic hooks and experimental rhythms. Each track carves through the sensuous material, pulling the listener into the dank sourcepond as though magnetic forces were guiding a bird's beak towards misty horizons.

What is your currency of trust? It could be a presentation of love through messages, or an open conversation with the transaction of topics of value, or a formal request of kinship online. Today, what entails in cyberspace exists as a parallel universe to the tangible experience, or as an augmented extension. Cybersecurity is at high demand as technology perpetually evolves alongside the sinister motives of manipulation beyond access points. How we interact with one another has changed anywhere from cordial, to the dismissive reactions that we can leave all as a trace. A digital insurgence of psychological operations ransack the networks worldwide, just as we share moments intimate enough to us to matter in the real world. With cybernetics being the study concerned with information that is communicated within a system of machines or living organisms, how far will we let technology’s infrastructure sink below our skin?

@aeonfade is a multidisciplinary artist based in Kyoto, Japan whose music aims to tell stories. With the coming of his next EP to be released later this year titled “Lullaby”, his works have dream-like qualities stretching beyond the corners of our reality. Reaching into themes of cyberspace and spiritual communication, the chaotic rhythmical structures apply the pressure onto the listener’s soul. His sonic landscapes are not only intricately precise but also carry a fairytale-like aura of ambiguity and illusions. This mix is sure to captivate the listener into the artist’s vision with impressionistic touches of melody and cathartic transformation.
