01-25 Bad Advice Will Break Your Will

It's time for something a little different than the standard synthwave fare.

Rabbit Junk's cool (and I'm happy JP kept making music)... but I fuckin' loved the Shizit. (Still have my CD of SofTeR and some stickers hanging around.) I couldn't pick just one song, so here's a medley as tribute.

Consider this just above demo state. The mix is fairly rough and unbalanced. Lots of "play it once and let it stay" style stuff. (St. Anger style production?) Parts might not be right. I'm sure I've fucked up the lyrics -- sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. It's pissed off, punk, and this approach matches the vibe. I think the attitude and message are spot on. Not sure how the low end is mixed, so RIP your sub.

Guitars are (mostly) an Ibaneze RG8 tuned EAEADGBE that sounds like shit and doesn't quite stay in tune, though I like how it sounds a little Fear Factory-esque during Audio Jihad. I know The Shizit used drop B; I didn't. Mesa Mark models for amps. Copius Serum with some NI. Mostly built-in Studio One effects and whatever freebies I could get. The vocal plan: Scream into a SM58, cup the bastard, and repeat as needed. Add a shit ton of compression and occasional distortion and, since I'm a metal guy who can't sing for shit, scream 'til my throat hurts and hope for the best. No autotune/meloydone here. For better or for worse, this is the sound of me getting something out of my system.
