pH 1 is a Danish producer and also a reference to the influences of his production style, Acid. Palying music at a young age, he was influenced by the sounds of UK House, Break Beat and elements of acid jazz. His track 'Make Your Reality' is an ambient electro track with break beat percussions, aquatic like chords and soothing melodics with an acid twist.

Ever since Gated launched we’ve always kept an eye out for those tracks that sit somewhere in the middle of dancefloor and home, between outright groovers and armchair head-nodders.

On our journey we’ve come across these tracks, some one-offs that you’d want to bang out as a DJ, others you’d just like to put on and trip the fudge out.

So we've collected them here on a record called In the Key of G, which is packed full of wigged out breaks, weird noodlers, downbeat shufflers, and glitched out crunchers.

Some names you’ll recognise, some you won’t. But trust us. Open your mind (and your ears) and relax.

A major thank you goes to all the artists involved for their kind gifts, the city of Brussels for their kind support and everyone else who makes this project possible.

C12 is a multidisciplinary nightclub and platform run by the Deep in House collective, located in the heart of Brussels. It's a safe place where freedom, diversity, creativity and alternative culture are protected from the restrictive and normative outside world. The project was launched in February 2018 and includes concerts, art installations, lives, club nights and exhibitions.

The Corona crisis is keeping our doors closed and dancefloor empty for several weeks now, with no hopes yet on new line-ups and crowds of enthusiastic dancers. But this unprecedented situation isn’t holding us still. Continuing to support our local Brussels and Belgian electronic music scene, C12 is proud to announce its own label with 10 music compilations dubbed Social Distancing. All artists involved are Belgian or strongly connected to the Brussels scene. Confirmed are Le Motel, Stellar OM Source, A.Brehme, Front De Cadeaux, Davy, OCB Casa Voyager, Cabasa, Techno Thriller, Orphan Swords, Different Fountains, Bear Bones Lay Low, Gols, Hadone, ... and our residents Session 4000, Kafim & Chris Ferreira. Compilations will also be curated by female artists promoting platform ‘Psst Mlle’ and queer culture collective ‘Benediction’.

Each edition consists of a collection of several tracks and will be released every two weeks, leading to a total of approximately fifty tracks. All music will be available to add on your favorite streaming service Soundcloud, Youtube, Spotify (coming soon) and Bandcamp. In addition for each track we offer a limited amount of 500 free downloads through our Bandcamp page, where donations are also enabled for those who wish to support us and the artists involved.

Kappen - Uchū Ryokō

Following on from their contribution to the Butter Sessions Come Together compilation released in March this year, Melbourne’s Polito deliver their debut EP Ultraparallel. Polito is the collaboration between musicians Robert Downie and Finnian Langham and dancers Arabella Frahn-Starkie and Hillary Goldsmith. The ensemble integrates improvised techno and contemporary dance to form well-considered and captivating performances. The spirit of these performances are masterfully captured on the 12” record. On the transition between mediums, the group states; “we always aim to capture the unpredictability and liveliness of our improvised performances when we record, and try to sculpt the feeling of continuous movement which is so intrinsically tied to Polito’s identity.”

Ultraparallel consists of four tracks that were extracted from studio sessions, emerging organically whilst jamming. The EP’s introduction Hornet’s Web wields mutilated samples of vocals and spoken word, paired with abrupt rhythms to forge anomalous techno. The eponymous track Ultraparallel, recorded in 2018, is a dark and brooding arrangement with a murmuring melody and an infectious recurring bassline. Polito reflects; “this track is from the first batch of studio sessions we had as Polito where our intention was to create more discrete ‘tracks’ which could be played by DJs, rather than the longform compositions more similar to the live performances which we had recorded up to that point.”

Turning the record over, Seventh Limb embodies the music for dance nuance by infusing dub with sounds from outer-space. Polito reveals; “we wanted to explore creating something more in line with the mood of our live performances, which are typically slower and have a rather meditative atmosphere. The more relaxed tempo allows the dancers to move at a sustainable pace and gives the musicians more space to prepare and manipulate the various musical elements in real-time. The result is our first formal exploration of ‘the chugger.’” Ultraparallel’s finale Sublunary is a playful sequence mingling electronics with an airy clarinet and saxophone.

Attuned to their audience, Polito imagines how their music will be consumed throughout the creative process. They comment “while making music in the studio, we try to transport ourselves mentally to hypothetical dancefloors the music we’re making could be played on, adding moments and sounds which would excite, energise, disorient, or have some other desired somatic effect. We’re also considering not just how the music sounds, but how it would ‘feel’ when played on large sound systems.” Ultraparallel ultimately presents a refreshing visual take on literal dance music; a considered and holistic approach to enhancing the experience of listening and moving.

From idiosyncratic techno swirls to emotive peak time bangers, every track has its own story and character, all served with immaculate sound design and the inimitable Lårry touch. Without further ado, we’ll stop our excited rambles and let the music do the talking.
