Descending from the first volume, Variierende Töne vol.II retraces the essential threads of the label, this time through two parallel perspectives: membranes + machines. A continuity of path, where past and future blur into new readings, into sounds that move between repose and tension, between presence and absence.

The work is divided into two movements. Side A: an immersion in organic matter—field recordings, acoustic research, surfaces shaped by Hanna Maria & Mattia Onori, Marco Ragni & Leonardo Pucci, and Adhémar. Side B: a shift into synthetic terrains—constructed resonances by Refracted, Rachel Lyn, and Ab Uno, where the machines dictate their own language.

For Melantónia, Variierende Töne becomes an open key: music that offers silence yet unsettles it, that restores and at the same time disrupts. Sounds that can adore the sunset, inhabit the sunrise, and return as primordial vibrations in perpetual transformation.

Indian imprint Qilla Records (@qilla) returns with 'Shapeshifter' - a precision-engineered deep techno release from Delhi-based producer Siddhartha Sharma aka ARTIFVCT.

Spanning six tracks, @artifvctmusic distils the intensity of his sound into something sharper, darker, and more physical. Each track feels meticulously forged, with every rhythm and texture serving a deliberate purpose. From the pulse of 'The Cleansing' to the entrancing sway of 'Nimbus', Shapeshifter demonstrates an artist in control of his craft.

As @counterchange-inland, British artist Ed Davenport crafts forward-thinking techno rooted in clarity and tension. Now based in Neuruppin after 15 years in Berlin, Ed continues to run his labels Counterchange and Globuli.

Also known for his warm and colourful take on house music, explorative ambient electronics, and more recently for film scores and sound design for contemporary art, Ed moves across formats and contexts with a singular sense of detail, shaping music that resonates far beyond the dancefloor.

We are very pleased to welcome Samuel Kerridge as our 47th guest on the Kaos London podcast series ahead of his brilliant new album 'Memoir of Disintegration' on Blueprint Records and live album premiere at the Kaos XXII x altar VII anniversary event hosted by Iklectik on November 13th. 

The British producer has been carefully turning techno inside-out for over a decade. Taking a distinctly post-punk approach to the genre, he has become an integral part of Regis' legendary imprint Downwards. Kerridge has helped to define the label's contemporary sound: broken techno and snarling punk, informed by industrial music and metal.

Kerridge ran the Berlin-based Contort label and party series and curated the legendary Berlin Atonal festival for three years, underlining his credentials as a stalwart figure in the world of experimental, boundary-pushing techno. He's also an accomplished live performer, most recently developing a hybrid live-DJ set that dismantles hundreds of tracks into a sampler to make new music in real time. It's an inventive process that places him in the lineage of iconic and groundbreaking techno acts, while still carrying the flag for the darkest corners of underground electronic music.

The journey begins in the valley, where instinct guides the first steps. There is no plan, only a feeling — to leave the car behind and follow the nearest path upwards. The trail leads through a forest drenched in moss, damp earth underfoot, and the quiet breath of pines shading the way. It is a beginning wrapped in stillness, as if the mountain itself is waiting.

As the ascent grows steeper, the landscape opens little by little. Between the trees, sudden windows of light reveal sweeping views of the surrounding hills, endless forests stretching across the horizon. Each pause carries a sense of wonder, the climb itself becoming part of the rhythm. The higher the path winds, the lighter the heart becomes, as though every step pulls the spirit closer to something timeless.

Near the summit, a hidden cave emerges. From the outside, it seems small and unassuming - but inside, it unfolds into a vast, otherworldly chamber. Stalactites and stalagmites form silent sculptures, while the last glow of the setting sun pours through the entrance, bathing the stone in a magical light. It feels like stepping into a secret only nature can hold, a moment of awe suspended in time.

This EP carries those impressions into sound — the quiet beginning in the valley, the momentum of ascent, and the luminous mystery discovered at the peak. A translation of fleeting beauty into rhythm and tone, held like an echo of the mountain itself.

For their tenth VA, Art Bei Ton presents “Some Casual Vortex”, a release that emphasizes cerebral textures, intricate sound design, and a diverse lineup of talented artists from across the globe. 

The journey begins with an atmospheric, cinematic piece by Synthbiont & Anassimandrus, titled “Inner Resonance”. Its rich bass line gently lowers the listener into a state of contemplation, setting the tone for the experience that follows.

“Dark Matter” from the Spanish producer Costélus explores broken beat structures interwoven with luminous harmonic layers, resulting in a mesmerizing, dreamlike composition.

Peruvian producer Andrea Zapata’s “Hypnosis” lives up to its name, her subtle yet captivating rhythmic pulses that draw you in completely and leave you entranced within moments.

Shanghai-based Lina K delivers “Deep Minds”, a commanding dancefloor piece defined by her driving low end and powerful bass line.

After the spell comes the ritual. French producer Armando_360's “Aery Strom” transcends listeners to a mythical realm through its polymetric energy, explosive rhythmic signature, and swelling atmosphere.

The descent continues with “Psychic Overload” by Portuguese producer Circuit V, a psychedelic half-time journey that gradually transforms into a propulsive, floor-focused rhythm.

Haber, hailing from Australia, contributes “One Way To Norway”, a piece built on a distorted bass groove and organic percussive textures that whirl you into a heady, kinetic motion.

Closing the compilation, “Gecko Got Psybogged” from Malaysian producer Gan D drags you back into the vortex with his murky, swirling layers and unrelenting low end, a fitting conclusion to this immersive exploration.

Ce magnifique mix, enregistré au Cabaret Sauvage en mai 2025, illustre parfaitement la richesse de ses influences et l'habileté dont elle fait preuve pour nous absorber dans son univers.

La Forge Podcast 046 - Thaïs

Columbian-based label, From A Lost Place is no stranger to us here at Delayed. Since 2018 the imprint run by founder, Launaea has been a consistent presence in the ambient, deep and experimental musical worlds that we are so fond of. With past releases including notable names like Zemög, Claudio PRC, Launaea himself, and a few monster compilations, there’s something for everyone in their rich backlog.

Marking a new direction for the label, the latest forthcoming release, titled ‘parasympathetic’ finds us listening to a glittering five tracker by the German artist, YYARD. Bright melodies abound as the label states, ‘perfect definition of the artist's eclecticism, blending groove and jazz influences with very meticulous rhythms, rich and organic percussions perfectly suited for the dance floor’.

'apnoe', the second to final track on the release, takes a darker approach, compared to the emotional highs of, say, Endless Summers. A full-sounding synth lead takes center stage as it grows and grows, while snappy percussion plays throughout, providing that proper groove and infectious movement. Tracks like these are ear worms and proper for a warmup session.

'apnoe', and in turn ‘parasympathetic’ will be released on November 20th.
