MAde has been bunkered down in the north of Norway cooking up an EP  that harks back to the ‘classic’ 90s Paper sound with help from some his Scandinavian friends.

Tylen Fra Sande is peak time house for discerning dance floors, Filtered sample, rolling disco bass, snatched vocals and drums that swing like a illegal New York after hours. The pedal hits the floor and stays there.

Hailing from Sweden, Storken does what he does best with a remix that is groove heavy and soulful with a touch of disco wonk. It will give the beards something to Shazam, but more importantly the dancers the perfect soundtrack to throw down to.

Spillopper I By`n shows another side to MAde’s production with a downtempo cut that wouldn’t sound out of place on Kruder & Dorfmeister’s K & D Sessions. It’s super deep with a bass that flanges like Trevor Horn is manning the controls, live drums, delayed guitars and the sound of a band jamming in the pocket at 4am of the best speakeasy you’ve ever been to.

Finally fellow Norwegian countryman Kappekoff takes things into cosmic territory. Soaring synths, arps, delayed vocals with enough disco stardust to power the space station shuttle. 

Norway’s future is in good hands!

Daniel Vangarde is the father of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter, and back in the 70s and 80s he was a musician who had great success writing and producing for the likes of Gibson Brothers and Ottawan on his Zagora label. He also worked solo as Who's Who and in 1979 produced a now cult favourite record of cosmic-euro disco. Two tracks from it get reworked from the original tapes here by The Reflex. He brings dubby, mid-tempo drums to 'Hypnodance' while retracing its Eastern melodic charms and sense of sophistication. His take on 'Palace Palace' is more funky and upbeat with leggy drums and elastic basslines smothered in cosmic arps.

Originally featured on Mark de Clive-Lowe’s groundbreaking debut album Six Degrees, “Day by Day” marked an early milestone in his fusion of jazz, soul, and broken beat — a sonic palette that would come to define his influential career. Featuring the signature vocals of Cherie Mathieson and hypnotic flute textures, the track has long been a fan favorite.

Now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Six Degrees, Australian duo Close Counters reimagine “Day by Day” with a joyful energy and club-ready bounce.

“We chose to ramp it up to house tempo whilst keeping the samba feel, treating Cherie’s vocal and the hypnotic flute loop with a dubbed-out approach. We’ve been inspired by Mark’s work and many projects for a long time so it was a huge honour to get on remix duties for Day by Day. We’re expecting this one will get a lot of spins in our DJ sets over the summer!” - Close Counters

The remix is paired with DJ Spinna’s soulful 2001 version and the original 2000 album cut — a trio of interpretations highlighting the song’s timeless appeal across eras and styles.

Naarm/Melbourne-based Close Counters’ diverse soundscape sits at the crossroads of house, neo-soul, broken beat and disco. Their 2023 Music Victoria Award-winning album, ‘SOULACOASTA II’ secured their spot as one of the top talents in their class, with the duo tirelessly sourcing niche samples from films and records on trips across the globe. The LP was touted by tastemakers Gilles Peterson, Folamour, Jamz Supernova and landed Album Features with Australian stations Double J, 3RRR, PBS and 2SER. Breakout singles from the pack were originally released by Melvo Baptiste’s The Remedy Project, an imprint of Defected Records.

Their collab 'Rollout' with Young Franco, Scrufizzer and Jay Prince, won over fans across the globe and was added to the Official Soundtrack for acclaimed video game FIFA 23, and have been synced for Apple’s recent iPhone campaign. In the past year the band have also performed for triple j, 3RRR, Defected Radio, FBi Radio, Soho Radio NYC, Baked, and interviewed on BBC Radio 1Xtra on tour recently, and when hotly tipped as their ‘After Dark Discovery’ and ‘EP of the Week’ (‘FLUX’, 2022).

The duo expands up to a 7-piece tour-de-force with live-mapped visuals, dancers and featured musicians and vocalists from their wider collective and they’ve continuously sold out their hometown Naarm/Melbourne dates, notching impressive shows at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, sold out dates at 170 Russell, Corner Hotel, The Night Cat, and packed-out rooms across Australia’s east coast. Support duties have flowed from Madlib, Sofi Tukker, Crazy P Soundsystem, Tall Black Guy, to local mates Confidence Man and The Jungle Giants, betwixt bucket-list festivals Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, Let Them Eat Cake, Strawberry Fields, Meredith Music Festival, MONA FOMA, Party in the Paddock and showcasing at BIGSOUND, Electronic Music Conference and three sold-out Melbourne Music Week events.

The band recently finished their UK & EU summer ticking off Lost Village Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival, Defected Malta and Cabaret Sauvage. In London, they sold Ronnie Scott's, did 180 tickets at Ninety One Living Room, packed out Hootananny Brixton and landed a sold out Jazz Café support for Somewhere Soul's showcase with Cotonete. The band have also played packed sets in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Monaco, Brighton and featured behind the decks at ADE, Defected Croatia, Reflektor in Belgium with A-Trak, and are returning for Brick Lane Jazz Festival in April 2025.
