Her longstanding residencies at the likes of Berlin’s Club der Visionaere, Moscow’s Rodnya, as well as featuring at all the major stop off around the globe has propelled the Brit into the collective consciousness of our community. Through her incendiary DJ sets, forward thinking productions and her essential imprint Partisan which is home to upfront releases from Giammarco Orsini, Charonne and LVCA. Anthea is also set to take her label story even further alongside Valesco with the offshoot imprint PILLZ featuring collaborations and close friends with the first release coming later this summer from Francesco Carvetta. The singular brand of house music that Taylor Freels produces as Liquid Earth is uniquely transatlantic, infusing the rhythmic sensibilities of London and Berlin with the sun-soaked serenity of his native California. Part '80s sleaze, part '90s deepness, part '00s wiggle, Freels makes dance music cocktails that pop like a twist of lime hitting seltzer. Melodic, crisp, and always refreshing, each track by the California-native is singularly recognisable as he refashions vintage sounds for the clubs of tomorrow.

Under his most recent alias, Liquid Earth, Freels has been pushing, as Resident Advisor put it, "tech house with a twist." His state-of-the-art analog grooves emerged from the ether fully formed in 2019 with some of the deepest basslines and crunchiest melodies out there. Freels' squigly take on contemporary house and techno always comes primed with a dose of California sunshine. 

Carrying on the legacy of storied California predecessors like Halo and Hipp-E, he's been swivelling heads and moving bodies with releases on labels at the vanguard of the underground, like Kalahari Oyster Cult and Is/Was sub label TerraFirm, collaborations with Tornado Wallace as Dinnervisions, and a remix of his starry-eyed, "Scope Zone" by Youandewan landed him notoriety among the scenesters alike. 

More than just a producer, Freels knows how to pack a punch behind the decks, moving from classic West Coast Breaks to UK tech house with aplomb and mastery. His bookings and podcasts have been piling up like hot cakes with best-in-class mixes for the likes of Honey Soundsystem, Butter Side Up and Faciendo and DJ appearances from Dimensions Festival to Panorama Bar.

Just 2 days ago I was sitting in a cafe during my recent trip for Lebanon and Egypt when Donald Trump announced his ban of muslim people visiting the USA marking another climax of xenophobia, anti muslim and anti Arabic narrative (الترجمة العربية أسفله).  At the same time I was in Cairo, a colorful, energetic and vital city that despite the cities and countries problems has not much in common with the stereotypical narrative of the Arabic world that is so largely told in the Western media. I’m aware that in times of these music is just a tiny piece of the puzzle to tell a different story but given that this is what I’m working with I felt it was the right time to drop another mix of music from Arabic tapes, vinyl and master tapes. Music that is very different to what a lot of people might expect. Straight up Chicago soul music with the „The Cats“, an Egyptian band covering „The Dells“, Lo-Fi electronic music from Sudan, tropical sounds from Cairo by "Al Massrieen", energetic disco from Algeria by „Zohra", another unknown banger by Morocco’s answer to James Brown „Fadoul“. Or what about some incredible AOR / yacht pop from Lebanon feat. Ziad Rahbani on keys with „Games“ and another little preview of our forthcoming „Ahmed Malek & Flako“ record among some other great music? Music that tells a different story, music to listen to when the world is going crazy and everything in between. #antitrumpmusic

While his music often sounds like the work of a funky otherworldly being, Ewan Smith (aka Youandewan) – originally from Yorkshire – now makes his hazy, futuristic house and techno from his adopted home of Berlin. Recently dazzling us with his latest stroke of genius known simply as The Brane 001 – the debut release on his new label of the same name is seemingly the first of many glimpses into his unique twist on uptempo Detroit influenced club tracks stacked with sci-fi appeal the likes of early Juan Atkins material. We caught up with the easy going producer, who's also become one of the Voyage Recordings family after his brilliantly dubbed out release for Andy Hart's label last year, and he's mixed up a stellar two hour session of his signature stripped back space grooves and dubby atmospherics.

Honing his skills since the 90’s, Francesco Del Garda has built a strong reputation throughout Europe for his signature blends of groovy house, oddball techno, UK garage and electro. Alongside running @timelessseries, Del Garda has notched up appearances in seminal venues around the world, as well as iconic b2b’s with the likes of Binh, Nicolas Lutz and Onur Özer.

We can’t wait to welcome the wizard this year to the Fort, where he joins the Butter Side Up crew’s takeover of the Void, their boat party alongside Binh, alongside partying with some of the usual suspects: Lutz, Zip, Omar, The Ghost and Jane Fitz who'll also be appearing across the weekend. Until then - tuck in to an hour of vintage FDG.
