“Preparing for Samhain XX was quite a surreal experience as we were heading into the dimming days of the year during the darkest times of our generations. I was asked to play a 3 hour session that listening back on reflects the powerful feelings and emotions of those anxiety ridden times. The set sort of moves through 3 parts: the first is being sucked down the rabbit-hole, the second portion moves into the chaos and disintegration, and the final section is a deep inhale/exhale and a glimmer of hope. This might be a way to approach it for those not inclined to listen to the full 3 hours. On that note it’s not all doom and gloom and I had some fun sneaking in some odd balls and a few samples in honor of All Hallows’ Eve. 

In such times of solitude and inner-reflection these special moments like Samhain XX gave us a sense of community and togetherness even though we were all worlds apart. Thanks to all involved for creating this sanctuary in the eye of the storm.”

This mix is a homage to the Changing Weather Nights at the Golden Pudel Club in Hamburg that were established by Carsten Jost (@david_lieske) and Lawrence (@lawrence_dial) around the turn of the millennium. Coinciding with the founding of their record label Dial (that turns 20 this year) these weekly club-nights served as the main place of musical experimentation and social interaction for the label and its artists which greatly informed what was later described as the "Dial Sound". The mix is a loose interpretation of a memory of that specific atmosphere at Changing Weather Nights without exclusively limiting itself to music that was produced at this very moment in time.

Blending everything together in a great big mush of hypnotic patterns and grooves’’ for the next episode of Navegante. Kraumur invites Swedish producer Martinou from Malmö - co-founder of the label sewer sender who also runs monthly Rinse France show. He’s recently released on AD 93 and has previously been printed onto records from UntilMyHeartStops, Appian, Cong Burn and ESP Institute.
The intro-poem is written and read by Hilda Hildoria.
