Next up in our Record Club Guest Mix series are Admin and Raw Queen. It's a back-to-back, Bristol meets Paris affair, resulting in a blistering mix of underground disco and funky sounds. Packed with heat, there’s cheap UK pressings, rare private 45s, under the radar gospel LP cuts, instrumental britfunk and much more. Thoroughly recommended and guaranteed to bring you up. 

Admin (Adam Wickens) is a DJ and producer that’s long been on our radar, with his ‘Step Into Light’ jam proving to be a particular favourite of ours. So much so we put the jazzy club joint onto the latest instalment of our Record Club compilation series. Based in Bristol, he founded the clubnight and edits series 'Community Disc-O’s’. The party is fuelled by a pure love for disco and hosted out of the backroom of Bristol’s The Crofters Rights venue. The night has blossomed into a platform for lesser-known DJs and the occasional international guest to stop on by. Previous guests to play have included Mark Grusane, Frederika, Island Times and Yadava. The ingredients are simple: two turntables, one rotary mixer, one mirror ball, a smoke machine and a bag full of disco, funk and boogie.

Another name to add to their international guest appearances is Raw Queen (Antoine O’Quin). A DJ based in Paris who took a trip to Community Disc-O's’ for their ninth party at the end of January. With an insatiable appetite for obscure private modern soul, gospel and disco rarities, Antoine quickly made an impression with his mixtapes, landing him coveted spots at Brilliant Corners and Spiritland. Back in Paris, Antoine can be seen DJing regularly in the city at musical hotspots Frequence and Bambino, and also co-runs the club night DiscoStormy (where Admin was a recent guest).

The mix was recorded at Admin’s place, the Sunday after the party. Mixed on a pair of Technics SL-1210 MKII running through an E&S DJR200, and post a big roast lunch, the idea was to capture some of the magic of the party. An extension of Friday's music that reflected the pace, energy and joy of that night. Like many B2Bs, there’s a raw feeling to the mix, with each DJ introducing their sound and keeping the other on their toes.
