I have been using my Lomo LCA for many years, I'd brought it from an old warehouse in Russia that had discovered a bunch of old Lomos stored there since the mid-80's, this version of the camera has now been discontinued...

[More...] One of the great things about shooting film is the anticipation of getting a roll back from the lab. It never fails to surprise with it's unexpected results to each individual situation. 

On several trips overseas I see local people and objects, doing their own thing in their natural environment - waiting for that moment, that second to capture the expression, the movement, the light and the atmosphere during that split second of exposure. I don't go with a plan or set of compositions in mind, stumbling across things is half the fun of Lomography - one of the best features of the Lomo is the fact it can capture moments in an instant, something that can never be replicated digitally or otherwise. I always use slide film which produces the grain on the image - pushing and pulling the film (ISO) also makes for an alternative contrast of image and colour. This particular camera is also prone to the odd light leak, giving an unexpected red band on the images from time to time when light enters the casing and subsequently onto the roll of film - one of the many quirks of the Lomo LCA. There has been no post-processing on the compositions, no cropping or colour correction has been applied - they are what they are, the unexpected nature of film.

The song Location: Undercover is made up of tonal elements and an overall less-automated sound, I let the process evolve musically within itself during it's composition - this reflects the nostalgic, unexpected characteristics of the camera and the images captured by it. - Hummingbird
