Midnight Magic’s perennial disco anthem  “Beam Me Up” announced itself as an  instant classic from the moment of its  release in 2010, and at long last the band  has teamed up with fellow Brooklynites  Razor-N-Tape for a 10-year-anniversary  package (minus one lost year) that once  again establishes the timeless quality of  the song with a fresh and versatile  package of new remixes. 

Norwegian space-disco don Prins Thomas delivers a sprawling and elegant mix, grounding melodic and psychedelic elements over a bumping percussive disco rhythm treatment, stretching out over 8 minutes of blissful breakdowns, delays and driving bass lines. Kim Ann Foxman takes the song to a darker and dubbier place with her  “Beam Me To The Basement Mix,” layering samples of singer Tiffany Roth’s vocal and insistent acid synths over a heavy and pulsing low end. Each Other, a new project by Max Pask and NYC club royalty Justin Strauss, crafts an extended peak-time stormer of a mix, with churning analog drum and synth production that is somehow ravey,  New-Wavey and lush all at once.

These three mixes truly capture an entire club night in one record, each a beautifully unique interpretation that showcases the inimitable talent and creativity of the remixers, and is also a testament to the enduring perfection of the original. Under his Awanto 3 guise, Steven van Hulle has long been considered a producer with immense potential. Now, he’s finally delivered on that promise with Opel Mantra, his stunning debut album.

To be released across three 12” singles between now and March (with all of the tracks to be collected together on CD at a later date), Opel Mantra twists house music into intoxicating new shapes, fusing a myriad of global influences into one thrilling, surprising whole. This is clandestine, atmospheric deep house as you’ve never heard it before. And boy, does it sound good.

Anyone with a keen interest in the Amsterdam electronic music scene will be familiar with van Hulle’s work. He’s already released a number of acclaimed solo singles on Rush Hour (his loose-limbed, decidedly cosmic debut, For Five, appeared in 2010), alongside highly regarded collaborations with fellow Dutch producers Tom Trago (under the Alfabet alias), Young Marco and San Proper. To date, though, his output has been limited to a handful of inspired productions.

Having had a glimpse of his talents, Opel Mantra proves his credentials once and for all. This first 12” in the series offers more than enough proof. Bristling with humid atmospheres, voodoo rhythms and tropical grooves, it fuses heavy African and South American influences with contemporary deep house sounds and grooves.

It seems like aaaaages since there's been a Kojak Giant Sounds - I would use the Google and find out just how long if I wasn't too busy shaking all my shit to the shoulder rolling Afro-cosmic of "Kamassa Trip". That's right folks, Mike Burns' A-side smasher here is a fully fledged floor filler in pure Baldelli/Loda fashion. Drums clatter and batter, the bassline rolls on and on and funky pianos add a touch of disco flair, keeping us thrusting away to the MASSIVE vocal chant. Expertly arranged, extended into chest beating intensity and decorated with all sorts of tripped out fx, this one's coming home with me! Over on the flip, Stockholm's Beatconductor dishes out the Red Stripe and Panama Red with the squelchy, stretched and spangled "Sunshine Life", a seriously summery cod-reggae cut for all the disco drunkards.

After a bunch of EPs on various labels such as Unknown To The Unknown, Porn Wax and Cosmic Pint Glass, and his debut LP "Island" released via Music For Dreams last year, Manchester's one and only multifaceted RüF Dug comes back in style with a 7" and a 12" shared with his friend Glowing Palms. Out on Ruffy's own imprint Rüf Kutz, RK#11 starts at full throttle with the explosive "Ruffys Jungle Sensi" premiered here, and when we say explosive it's no hyperbole. Despite its 103-ish BPM, this vintage sounding tropical boogie number could make anybody get down like crazy whatever the hour thanks to an epic percussion jam, a rousing groovy bass and guitar combo and some glorious synths. This treat is out on April 11th so run to the nearest shop and get it while you can !

Hailing from St Petersburg, Sasha Balykova aka Errortica was graduated from music school. Always obsessed with learning and collecting music, she’s one of the most promising artists from russian buzzying electronic scene.
On local pillar Test FM, she’s showcasing an impeccable taste and selection in her own Melomantica radio show by inviting artists from different horizons which allowed her to raise an evergrowing interest all over Europe.
By delivering sophisticated podcasts on countless platforms, Errortica revealed her mixing ability. She performed for Boiler Room Vilnius in 2019 and has been invited to Dekmantel Festival 2020, showing evidence she’s just at the edge of a brilliant career.
LYO is glad to present her inaugural vinyl debut with the «Safety Stowed EP» backed by a killer acid reinterpretation from Athens best Anatolian Weapons!
