Over the years, Berlin has been cited as Oliver Koletzki's main point of reference and, more importantly, his endless source of inspiration. His albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 are wholehearted tributes of the German capital, as its importance is continuously hinted and charted. Friedrichshain, one of Berlin's vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Oliver's heart. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Kreuzberg's wall paintings adorn Stil vor Talent's cover sleeves and host their headquarters. There are little to no corners in the city that haven't brought a spark of inspiration into the mix. The Schneeweiss compilation series, now at its 12th installment, is built as a form of tribute to all these particles, tied in together into a series of carefully curated tracks. Each compilation stands at the intersection of the musical and cultural surroundings most prominent of their respective times, acting both as a reminder as well as a timeless sound capsule for the years to come.

The lush 'Reverie' is a gorgeous melodic house track that builds in captivating stages. The smooth groove is overlaid with circling loops of twinkling pads and, eventually, big, broad bass strokes arrive to add weight and deeper emotions. It's the sort of star-gazing tune to trap you in a trance in the middle of the dance floor during the depths of the night.

Both as a standalone tune, and as part of the compilation, this is an essential new offering from the continually excellent Stil Vor Talent label and the hotly tipped Sainte Vie.

‘Yang’ is the latest solo endeavour from Reza Safinia, the Album draws on his deep interest in Eastern philosophy and his own spiritual practices to inspire a sound that marries the ethereal with a call to the dancefloor. This new album was written as the first global lockdowns were lifted. It follows on from Yin, which was composed at the start of the pandemic. Both albums reflect the energies of those different situations, and both were recorded at 432Hz - a tuning standard that is said to resonate with living beings and our chakras. The albums and their titles are inspired by the Chinese cosmology principle that everything consists of a balance of Yin and Yang. 
Yin is the pianos and strings, and Yang the electronic production elements. They have been conceived from meditation and a mindful presence in one's environment, with deep connections to humanity. Musically, the albums combine everything from electronica to downtempo, melodic house to techno. Importantly, Yang carries a sense of hope for human connection and lust for celebrating life.

Reza Safinia - Prana

A yantra is a geometric symbol used as a point of focus in tantric meditation. It is like a visual manifestation of a mantra, and the song is derived from the song “Mantra” from Yin. I took the cyclical piano theme, slowed it down and rebuilt the track with a pulsating beat. Mantra was the jump off point, to turn this into a cinematic dance experience.

March 2020 is a rather unusual month for Jannowitz. It's one of the very rare occasions that we're releasing two separate EPs within 30 days. But it's easy to explain why: We‘re receiving too many damn good tracks. 
The second one this months is „Lone Ranger“ by Maurice Mino. The Berlin producer with roots in genres like Dubstep and Drum & Bass is debuting on Jannowitz Records with an absolute banger. „Lone Ranger“ is a progressive techno track that lives off a fast paced beat and beautiful melodies. You'll hear Maurice's passion for deep house and techno tunes. 
As fort he remix, we have a familiar face this time: Khainz is back! The uber DJ and producer remixed Flow & Zeo's „Schwarze Katze“ a few years ago and John Haden's „Black Hole“ back in 2015 when Jannowitz Records was still in its baby shoes. His remix for Maurice Mino is softer than the original but even more synth-heavy. It's the perfect example of a unique producer giving an outstanding original track his very personal touch
And just like fort he first EP this month, our resident tattoo artist Paul Talbot designed a beautiful cover for „Lone Ranger“. Enjoy!
