CLUB AMEN (02.07.2022) Soulful Drum & Bass

Something different from us here at Back To The Future HQ for this podcast.  If you could imagine the two 8’s of #88 as two bald heads, well that works pretty good for us follically challenged DJs of a certain vintage… especially myself, Mr Evolve and extra specially for this show DJ Uplift. 

In fact myself and Uplift have been at this for a minute.  We met on a station he ran in London, Addiction FM! .. err.. a few years ago... and It's always been a pleasure to b2b with him.  A year ago we got together and played some of our favourite old music but for this show we wanted to do something different…

Uplift has been producing and DJing this genre for a while and has music coming out on scene stalwart, Cantina Cuts.  He also graces the show with some forthcoming music from others and an exclusive look at a nearly finished track from himself!  With all that in mind I felt it best for him to supervise our first trip into this style for the show.

What happened next was just like me and him on the radio in the 90’s, phone going crazy, beats flying everywhere and a 2 hour show passes in the blink of an eye! 

It was great to have Lady M with us in the studio and we will get Part 2 of this done soon…  definitely quicker than a year, we promise.

Episode 382 brings us our second collab mix with the vaunted DNB Girls crew!! We are fortunate to feature the stylings of Mizeyesis, who is making her 3rd appearance on our podcast!!

Mizeyesis's mix kicks off with a personal fave from the Untouchables, followed by tracks that ease the listener in with an impeccable patience! Let's meet our dj, Mizeyesis:

Mizeyesis is a dj & producer from the Northeastern United States. In 2018, She's released on Elm Imprint's Halflife85 and ThazDope Records, Doyenne which is a compilation highlighting female producers and a collaboration entitled "Guidance" with the artist, Rainforest. In 2017, she released “Seven Systems” a long anticipated 7 track EP on US label, Faction Digital Recordings;  “Salvation” on Junglist Resistance, a 31 track international jungle compilation and “Soundbwoy Haze” on Ruff N Rugged Vol 1 on Yeska Beatz Unlimited. In 2016 AwakeFM & Mizeyesis released “Convergence EP” (OMNIEP106) on Omni Music UK. She also released 2 tracks on the "Sea Jah EP" (HEX002) by Skru ft Mizeyesis on the label Hexagon Digital UK. She has plenty of scheduled projects to come in 2020.

Mizeyesis is US Manager for DNB Girls, an all female collective of artists, DJ, and MC's; 1/3 of the group, The Amen Ra Trifecta aka The Art a trio of MC Elijah Divine, Meszenjah and herself; and is also apart of MIA DNB & New England Junglists. 

Her whole life she was engulfed in expression from being a former professional dancer, to visual art, to learning & studying music at an early age, She has been djing since 2004, performed at many festivals (Beltek, Hydrotechnics, Revolt, Evolvefest, Wickerman Burn, The Winter Music Conference and many more) and prestigious nights not only in the US but around the world such as Respect (LA), Rupture (London), Elements (Boston), Konkrete Jungle (NYC), New England Junglists United (MA), DieHard on Decks (MA), Direct Drive (NYC), Natural Selection (NYC), Two:Tone (Dallas), MPLS (Minneapolis), MIA Kansas City (Missouri) and many other prestigious jungle/dnb nights. 

Mizeyesis has performed/toured/opened for many high profile artists & performers such as LTJ Bukem, Aphrodite, A-Sides, Remarc, SPY, Jumping Jack Frost, John B, Total Science, Breakage, Digital, Loxy, Double O, SB81 (Nolige), MSDOS, RAW aka 6Blocc, Liondub, Tony Touch, Reid Speed, Empress, Planet of the Drums (AK1200, Dara, Dieselboy & Messinian) and many more!  
One thing is for sure, you will be entertained and enlightened as this supreme selector has a curious knack for lifting spirits with a selection of music from the past, present and, future.
