FABYO - Drum Circle

Amine Edge is a DJ with a keen nose for a killer tune. As a producer, he's delivered classics; as a label owner (with CUFF), he's been supplying DJs with cooking content since 2014. One of his latest discoveries is TAD, a Parisian producer. This year's CUFF release, "Places", is a superb slice of tech house with a bouncy bassline and clever hooks. Despite his relative anonymity within the DJ community, it went straight onto the playlists of Jen Payne and Kevin McKay. Kevin then contacted him for a GU release, and "Be Mine" resulted. Road-tested at Kevin's recent Fire show, this mix of razor-sharp rhythms and bubbling bass smashed the floor at London's premier 6 am party zone. It's a banger.

Earth n Days - Gonna Do [HouseU]

Columbian DJ and producer Cato Anaya follows up his recent Afro house hit for us (“La Noche”) with another Latin-influenced killer. This time collaborating with Presi On (who you will know from his current smash with Renate, Marcus Santoro & Kuuda on Blond:ish’s Abracadabra label (“The World”), the versatile producer leans on another Latin classic for sample inspiration. Even though “Guantanamera” is a Cuban standard, the melody is known around the world and it works perfectly as a breakdown tonic in Anaya & Presi On’s percussion workout. Like Presi On’s release with Blond:ish, we can see this one working with a wide range of DJs, its pulsating groove delivering the kind of energy that will work on lots of floors.

It’s been almost a year since we’ve had Rouen-based Deep House don Discosteps on the label. Over the years he’s delivered some bona fide slow-burning jams for us. Always, in the background, Kevin McKay has been helping on production. This time, the pair have decided to shake things up and come with a proper collaboration. “Only You” mixes the sweet soul vocals of Discosteps classics like “What Kind Of Love” with Kevin’s sultry house groove (think “Tom’s Diner”). Together, the result is the kind of wicked party-starter that you might hear from Gorge & Nick Curly on 8 Bit. It’s a peach.
