Ayebatonye Abrakasa is a DJ, multidisciplinary artist, curator and Creative Director of DIY Arts Platform Irregular Fit of Nigerian heritage working and living on Gadigal Land.

Ayebatonye founded Irregular Fit, a collaborative interdisciplinary DIY arts platform for Bla(c)k, Brown and POC folk in August 2018 in response to limited opportunities for the respective communities within the arts and cultural industries. Irregular Fit was created as a means to exchange knowledge, to connect artists and audience and to counter barriers to access that existed for Bla(c)k, Brown and POC folk who engaged with the arts.

Through her arts practice Ayebatonye has explored existentialism and absurdism as it relates to her surroundings, her identity and its intersections. As a DJ, Ayebatonye is best known for her eclectic sonic stylings of Chicago house, Detroit techno, gqom and an array of global electronic sounds and has played in venues around the world, recently invited to open for the Underground Resistance at Tresor in Berlin, Germany.

JARV!S is a local queer DJ with a lust for disco, proggy house and 90s trance.

Known for his high energy and playfulness behind the decks, JARV!S has one goal – and that’s to create the ultimate party atmosphere. 

While everyone else in his home rural town was getting into Nickleback, JARV!S was building his collection of Ministry of Sound compilations which continues to influence his sound today.

IT automation engineer by day, and Naarm based DJ by night, Tinika is renowned for her distinctive taste and adventurous track selection. Through sonic exploration she strives to surprise with each carefully curated mix but also bring with her, a sense of nostalgia to the dance floor. 

Tinika grew up heavily influenced by the sounds she selects today, with her output being a feel-good fusion ranging from house, bass, to experimental hip hop, r’n’b and everything in between. 

Drawing on her queer black identity, you’ll be hard pressed to find a genre untouched by Tinika who seems to always give the crowd what they didn’t know they needed.

Simona is a musician, DJ, a broadcaster on 3RRR and runs the independent label Trans-Brunswick Express in Naarm/Melbourne. Through underground techno, house, darkwave, and new beat flavours, she has been a regular in Naarm queer clubs for over 20 years.

Simona is a two-time nominee for Music Victoria’s Best Electronic Act as a solo artist in 2020 and with SaD in 2021. Simona's third full-length studio album, 2020’s ‘Panic/Desire’, debuted at #1 on the AIR 100% Independent Album Chart and was nominated for the 2020 Australian Music Prize. Simona has remixed and produced music for acts m8riarchy, Black Cab, Cong Josie, Pillow Pro and Nite Fruit. Her festival appearances include Golden Plains, VIVID Sydney, Strawberry Fields, Gaytimes, and Official Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Party.

Behind the counter at Northside Records and Skylab co-presenter with Lori, Sophie is no stranger to Melbourne’s music ecosystem. To describe Sophie McAlister’s output in just a handful of genres is to do Sophie’s craft a great disservice. She’s a purveyor of all the styles that lift your spirits and nourish your soul. An eternal learner and dedicated digger, Sophie’s ability to weave effortlessly through genres reinscribes her speciality of playing to any dancefloor.

For this reason and many more, she’s considered a treasure amongst the local scene. Sophie’s output of guest mixes vary from her Rinse FM Mix for Ben UFO’s Hessle Audio show and Floating Points’ Melodies show on NTS. Heavily inspired from her UK counterparts, Sophie plays with a distinct approach that carries listeners through her soulful and uplifting taste derived through bass and percussive heavy music.

She has played at a variety of international programs including Boiler Room in Bali, UK shows with Rhythm Section, Secret Sundaze and We Out Here Festival.

Stev Zar weaves worlds when she performs. She defies conventional genre borders and draws inspiration from diverse musical references, creating a singular and engrossing sound environment. Her distinct style blends familiar sounds of house and techno with experimental electro and southside rap folded into the chaos. The aim is body euphoria, her sets intend to balance playfulness and a tiny bit of chin-stroking to create a sound that deeply resonates with dancefloor champions. Her goal is to uplift trans bodies and challenge her audience to move beyond genre to connect with the heart of the sound.

Baby G is a DJ and producer from Aotearoa, based in Naarm/Melbourne. Focused on energy and pace, Baby G’s selections are guided by her experience as a drummer and musician. Droning bass and hypnotic textures are met with driving percussion and electro-infused sequences throughout her club sets, navigating listeners through shifting tempos and rhythms.

Baby G’s DJ sets and productions are captivating, mysterious and ever evolving, landing her on lineups such as Pitch Music and Arts, Hopkins Creek, Strawberry Fields and Beyond The Valley. Colombia-born and Naarm-based, Luna’s atmospheric dance sets defy genre restrictions, mixing Eastern and South American percussive influences, acid and nature like sounds. Luna began as a DJ in NZ, opening for acts such as Paramida, Cinthie, Dusky and Fred Again. She has performed at iconic NZ events including 121 Festival, Beacon Festival, and Tora Bombora.

Bertie is a DJ, producer, party promoter and radio host based in Naarm. Expect an accordant amalgamation of disco, house, acid, prog and genre blenders across the wider spectrum of dance music. Her musical journeys are exactly that – a guided exploring from start to finish.

This cultivated sound has seen her become a discernible force in the underground music scene, performing at some of Australia's biggest festivals including Strawberry Fields, Pitch Arts & Music, Sugar Mountain, Gaytimes and Beyond the Valley, and support the likes of CC:DISCO!, Denis Sulta, Bradley Zero, Kornel Kovacs and Patrick Holland.

Outside of performing she shares her ever-expanding collection of laid back groovers via her show ‘Cup of Bertea’ on Skylab Radio, as well as regularly appearing on Hope St Radio. She co-curates an event series ‘Club Aqueous’, prioritising artists from underrepresented backgrounds. And she produces dance-floor ready house music, with her single 'Carabiner' released on Phenomena Records in November 2023; the first from her debut EP set for release early 2024.

Jo Christy is a DJ, producer and event curator who first appeared on the Naarm scene in 2017. She later gained a following in Eora as one of the few trans DJ in the club circuit at the time.

One of the minds behind local queer parties Transenergy and Work Wife, Jo is inspired by the trans and queer DJs she plays alongside and wants her music to contribute to creating spaces for her community.

Jo has supported international artists such as Seth Troxler, DJ Holographic, THC, Eris Drew and Octo Octa. She also recently made her festival main stage debut at Strawberry Fields in 2023.

Direct from Boorloo (Perth), Wongi man Yikes is a multi-talented and mad-skilled DJ, producer, radio presenter and artist. He has become an unstoppable force over the last few years, performing at the likes of Inner Varnika, Sonder Festival, Pitch Music & Arts, Sun Cycle and Boiler Room.

Yikes also shares his deep musical knoweldge with others through his First Nations DJ course for young musicians. Extending this community-minded ethos is his co-founding of Nani Creative: a Boorloo-based Aboriginal-led creative studio that aims to encourage authentic design that creates connection and enables storytelling. With the space, he has worked hard to tangibly fight back against the lack of diversity in creative industries.

Marco Gomez, aka Junior M (fka False Witness), is a musician, DJ and visual artist currently based in New York City. Their Junior M moniker is informed from their experiences in NYC and Berlin, hybridizing classic house with italo, Belgian New Beat, and EBM. They are currently the manager of E-Missions Recordings.

Junior M officially debuted their new sound in late 2023 with their first EP, ‘City Flowers’. They have performed globally at various institutions including Frieze Art Fair London, Berghain, Hyperreality Festival Vienna, SXSW Austin and Warm Up at MoMA PS1.

After five years of CONFIDE we mark the start of our next chapter – the launch of CONFIDE Records, with our debut release from Simonetti.

Simonetti's 'Wanna Be Free' EP, captures the essence of the CONFIDE dance floor — raw, euphoric, and steeped in the acid-drenched spirit of '90s house and trance rave culture.

Simonetti channels these influences into a unique three-track journey, brimming with soaring melodies, ecstatic peak-time energy, and an experienced nod to the roots of underground dance music.

The title track, 'Wanna Be Free,' pays homage to the golden era of UK acid house, blending crisp Detroit-inspired stabs with rolling ’90s basslines and powerful piano riffs. 'Off to the Rave' follows with a hypnotic, trance-infused groove, its spacious pads lifting dance floors into a state of blissful euphoria. Closing out the EP, 'Inspiration' embodies the lush, shimmering melodies of Italo dream house with a deep, in-the-pocket bassline, while playfully sampling Into the Groove.

Simonetti’s 'Wanna Be Free' EP is both a vibrant celebration of ’90s rave culture and a bold statement that sets the tone for the future of CONFIDE Records.

D. Tyrone dives in with ‘Programmer’, a track originally dreamt up for Rewild, a small gathering of queers coming together to plant trees on Dja Dja Wurrung Country.

Next up is ’Funky’, recorded during a stint at MESS (Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio) and driven by a fixation on Yahama gear from the 90s and 2000s. The Age of Love mix — one of three original recorded versions — rolls with bouncy, techy bass loops that set the perfect handover into the second half of the split.

Jo Christy’s ‘Electric’ first took shape as part of a live hardware set back in 2023, during a period when Jo was drawing inspiration from both ’90s dance music and more contemporary progressive styles. Originally recorded at 139bpm, Electric has gradually been slowed down as Jo’s sensibilities shifted toward groove and feeling over tempo.

The split comes to a close with the irresistible, stab-studded ‘Whirlydig’, the result of near-endless experimentation. As Jo recalls, “It took a lot of persuasion from Dirk (D. Tyrone) to just accept its final form. I’m glad I did — they told me that the tune is flowy with good call-and-response, but the almost kinda whacko vibe of that synth is what makes it really catchy.”

Artwork by Oriette Wood, local multidisciplinary artist and dear friend of both D. and Jo. Oriette’s art practice is informed by her experience as a trans woman, exploring gender identity, eroticism and kink.
