Autofreak is a dark and driving electro-techno track originally released in 2001 produced by John Selway under his Semblance Factor alias. Selway brought out this track from the archives for a remix challenge on his Techno Saturdays livestream & feedback session with Christian Smith. We picked the top three electro and top three techno remixes from the challenge submissions to feature on this release. From dark rolling hypnotic grooves to sharp edged machine funk, all six mixes make up a strong and varied collection of new takes on Selways underground classic.

The highly addictive groove of “Do U Bounce” will make you boogie, boogie for sure. A dense rhythmic foundation built from various sampled percussion and a fat kick anchors the track, while a clever interplay of vocals takes center stage. It's a perfect example of a modern blend of house music and hardgroove.

CF Premiere: Confidential Recipe - Consell [Illegal Alien Records]

"The Feeling That Brought Me Here" is Ackermann's second album. Effortlessly drifting between techno and house, the album eschews his usual EP minimalism in favor of a bold, hookline focused album. Gritty chord stabs, chunky pianos and jacked up grooves dominate the palate, whilst Ackermann's signature sample manipulation fuses deconstructed vocal chops that are used more like instruments or percussion elements instead of being the centrepiece of a song with razor-sharp drum edits and intricate sound design.

While his debut album "Stadium Techno" saw Ackermann's teenage incarnation smugly manning the controls of his 2020s studio (where he is currently known for immaculate mastering and A-List mixdowns) this sophomore collection offers a polished weaponry spanning 3 years of focussed collaboration integrating this adolescent dynamist with the guiding hand of an elder reaching their production zenith.
"The Feeling That Brought Me Here" channels the intrinsic urge of embodied music creation - fiercely somatic, unrestrained, physical, immediate and kinetic. Rogue sketches and intuitive vibe snapshots resist genre constraints to favor a dancefloor defined by polished 'f##k-you' tectonics and sleekly engineered attitude.

From the unapologetic feel-good opener "Good Times" via tougher chord slappers like "Click" or "Alter", a casual techno banger exclusively made with jungle sounds ("Now you know" with Vinicius Honorio), the deep techno bliss of "Noha", the cathartic "Let Go" or the disco infused outro "Gratitude" its all unmistakenly trademark Ackermann productions and all the various styles are firmly held together by his emotion over function approach to music production.

From gritty low-end power to cinematic builds and hypnotic repetition, these tracks are built with intent - to move bodies, challenge minds, and hold the floor in their grip.

We’ve brought in two key remixers to reinterpret Bailey’s vision through their own lenses: The Advent, an undisputed cornerstone of the genre, delivers a groove-laced rework that’s equal parts punch and finesse - a masterclass from a true pioneer; and Kaiser, one of the most distinctive voices in today’s generation of techno artists, strips things down and dials up the pressure with a deep, percussive take that hits with precision.

We’re proud to host Marco Bailey for this special chapter in the Frenzy story, and we invite you to dive deep into this powerful body of work.
