This week we welcome a fantastic up-and-coming DJ from the province of Santiago del Estero in Argentina’s interior. Anto Romano has loved music from her childhood and has nurtured a passion to absorb, learn and study a variety of sounds, typically on the melodic side. She has developed a versatile style in her track selection, and this has opened a number of doors for her as a progressive DJ who knows how to borrow from deep, organic and progressive house, melodic techno and even ethereal among others.

Anto started her journey as a DJ in 2019 and has been one of the key movers of the electronic music scene in her home province, where acceptance remains elusive. At the age of 24 she has already been behind the decks at many of her city’s events and most of its good bars including Mamba Negra, Antares, BBQ, Patagonia, Francis Bar and Roonin. Her sets have been played on a number of radio stations including Capital 101.3 FM, Planeta Groove Radio, Buenos Aires’ Phoenix Sonido Selecto on 102.9 FM, Radio House in Tucuman, the Influencias radio show in Corrientes, and Dinamica Radio in Santa Fe. In addition, she has started to appear internationally on Loops Radio (Turkey) and Cosmos Radio (Germany).

Her style is inspired by the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Sasha, John Digweed, Soul Button, FOLGAR, Soundexile, Artfaq, Antrim, Ezequiel Arias and Martin Garcia among others. Anto is planning to start producing.

This is her first Canadian appearance and Ottawa Prog Vibes is thrilled to have her as our guest for this week’s episode.

This week we feature an Ottawa stalwart and dear friend of mine. @pithra is well known as a DJ and as one of the founders of @music-art-ppl, one of our city’s most important music and creative collectives. I’ve had the pleasure of playing events with him and his live performances never fail to get people furiously dancing with a huge smile on all night.

Inspired by progressive, deep & minimal house from the 2005-2009 era, Pithra’s journey as a DJ started in 2010. From intimate house parties to clubs and festivals, Pithra is a versatile DJ who has a passion for music with a selection ranging through Deep, Prog, Melodic, Afro, Tribal House & Techno. "Definitely “Fate” from my fourth solo album, which also was the first release of my own label Ghost Kitchen. It is connected with deep personal change, also changing the city to live and it basically marks important new chapter of my life, very joyful one. I don’t really believe in fate, rather in vitality and creativity, action than re-action, observing reality in terms of processes, so the title is kind of pawky. I feel like I created with this track the widest field of good emotions as I know how everyone even beyond electronic music fans react to the feelings I have put there. And this kind of communication is the most important for me in what I musically do."

BIO:
After his first release 'Rainbow Road' was focused on the feel good vibes of house music, with a strong Chicago and UK house influence. A new sound has emerged from Strange this year, as the world went into lock down, many lives changed dramatically.

For Strange this was a turning point where he focused his feelings on the music and the sound began to take hold. He began to explore dark melodic breaks, also known as Electronica. He used the time to create his single 'Shadow', which was selected for release on Stil vor Talent, and made it to #19 on Beatport's Electronica top 100, while also being added to Oliver Koletzki's Beatport Essential Tracks: June.

Shortly after, 'Flow' his next instalment and EP was released with the UK label Capital Heaven and was selected for the Beatport charts - Best New Breaks/Breakbeat & UK Bass: June and Opening Fundamentals 2021.

Now starting to break out in the underground scene of Sydney, Blake has begun to put his interests in producing Experimental Techno, something that he has enjoyed playing around in clubs, warehouse parties and rave's, usually playing to a mass audience under a highway bridge in the wee hours of the morning. These experiences have been captured and portrayed into the music that you are soon to hear.

It was two years a go, for my birthday, that I had the pleasure to see, in this same venue playing live, an astonishing Stil vor Talent line up, made by some of my favourite producers of electronic music, Township Rebellion and Oliver Koletzki. 

After these two years, it was a real pleasure for me to step in, in the same venue, to play my own music journey while seeing everyone united again and dancing with passion and love in front of my own eyes.
