The first relese to kick off Clubwerks, Origami Sound's imprint dedicated to distinctive, genre-free club material is by a 19 year old French prodigy who grew up in Manchester and is currently studying Jazz Performance at the prestigious Julliard University in NYC - JAONA, one of the most exciting producers to join our crew of hugely gifted new talent.

The difference between average producers and great ones consists in knowing how to arrange melodic and rhythmic stimuli in extraordinary ways; our boy JAONA is a champion at conjuring the most refined sensorial scenery inside each of his tracks and have fun with it too. All the music on this EP is entirely stand-alone, furiously creative and catchy in the most subtle ways.

This mini-album should be more than enough to get an idea of what Clubwerks is about.

'Jovian' is the sophomore release of UK-born, now Bordeaux resident SHALT, an EP that conceptually lands somewhere between techno/grime hybrids and radio storms on Jupiter. 
This EP couldn't have had a better theme, as the music could easily soundtrack volcanoes on Io hurling gas into the Jovian magnetosphere.

SHALT explores a range of visually intense sound textures on all four tracks - alien, muscular, metallic, mechanic, abrasive yet oddly comforting - that are a breath of fresh air in the scene and more than welcome here at Clubwerks. Gently crackling matter, stripped back club-ready percussion, undulating sonar signals and the overall intriguing listening experience make this one a standout for us in every way.

No two tracks are alike, each has its own oddity factor and that's what makes listening fun. As long as you immerse yourself, which isn't hard to do, you will enjoy this bold mission.

From soulful heaters like "Let's Ride" & "Lulu Sleeps" to the post-midnight-in-a-dark-club madness of "You Bad" & "Namesake", the 12" showcases her Bass, Grime, Footwork & Dubstep influences, genres she's been championing in the US from their early days.

The Michigan-born, Cali-bred artist played worldwide from Dimensions Festival (she was the first American female DJ to play there) to clubs in US, Europe & UK. Her music got featured in publications like Complex, DUMMY or Truants & you can often hear her iconic sets on BBC 1xtra, Rinse FM or Reprezent airwaves.
