Suso Saiz (@saizsuso)is an avant-garde musician, composer and producer; an imaginative and subtle guitar, creator of unmistakable “hypnotics”. His tireless activity covers a broad spectrum of music and other disciplines, where the interrelation with the plastic arts, theater, films and poetry occupy a prominent place.
He has published more than 20 albums, the most recent: Odisea (2016), Rainworks (2017), Nothing Is Objective (2019) and Between No Things (2020) Suso Saiz & Suzanne Kraft (@suzannekraft), all of them on the Dutch label Music From Memory (@music-from-memory). Released by Two-Headed Snake the digital album Conscious Polarize, with Suso Saiz & Francisco López (2020). He has been founding member of Orquesta de las Nubes, Suspended Memories and Trash Of Dreams.  He has produced more than 100 records and he has played and collaborate with a number of luminary electronic and world music artists as Jorge Reyes, Carles Santos, Steve Roach, Michael Brook, Diego Vasallo, Glen Velez, Stephan Micus, Jan Bang, Arve Henriksen, Guo Yue, Robert Rich, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Wager Tiso, Salif Keita, Roger Wolfe, Gigi Masin, Suzanne Kraft, Christian Fennesz, Francisco López among others.

System Seven is set in the near future. The track explores the dreams of creating life and overcoming death. The modular system never stops while the tape represents humanity and how we perceive 'real-time' with a beginning and inevitable end. 


How System 7 was made.

This track was made using an Electron Octatrcak with modular synths and a Tascam four track.

It was recorded live in one take.

The Electron Octatrack was running two 64 beat sequencers with a variety of probability and chance trig-conditions set for each note in the sequence. So were set to higher ratio's such as 50-90%, while other notes were set to 5-25%.

Modular jam; Keystep arpeggio running Hertz Donut MKII through MI Clouds and Rainmaker, modulated by MI Tides. A bit of tremolo added through MFB VCA. Chords from the Music Thing Modular Radio Music - Chord Organ mod. Some added wave ambience from Massive.

The Tides Come In

Build around a modular synth improvisation using Intellijel's Metropolis sequencer, this composition explores machine made music in contrast to what it means to be human. The fragility of human instruments such as xylophones, glockenspiels, pianos and bass clarinets play the music made by the machines to highlight what it would be like to be part human part machine.

metropolis pitch out ran into doepfer A-185-2, individual pitches to osc's 1 v/Octave. octave swicthes were flicked on and off manually throughout.

Metropolis gate out goes into A-160+161, trig's /32 and trig out 7 go into A-138m inputs 2 & 3. A-138 in bipolar mode. trigger signals were mixed an attunverted with empty input one as an offset. column one out triggers one of quadra's EGs,which triggers filter cutoff.
