Playing a set when half the party is still wanting to dance and the other are trying to go to sleep is always a challenge.  This is the second instalment in my sunrise set series at the party that started it all for me.  I have really started diving in with more chill electronic vibes and melodies for this mix then at the end I throw a heavy dash of dnb at cha!! Selector !!! This week, we've got a special memory from earlier this month when I played a B2B with my homie @djpixxie during a Polaris and Friends takeover of the RIDE stage at The Midway in San Francisco. It happened during an incredible day at Nora En Pure's Purified Block Party. It was a dream come true to play on the same day as one of my favorite artists and inspirations. 

I've got the raw, unedited recording of our set for anyone who wants to listen (it includes me and Taylor bantering, and the sound is accidentally drawn from my iPhone mic. DM me if you want to relive that moment.) But here's a set I recorded solo before the event. I'll call it my interpretation of the B2B set.

So thankful for the folks who put this event together. It was truly beautiful.

A Night at Nora En Pure's Purified Block Party (Black Panda’s Version)

"Speaker Damage" is comprised of DJ's SP1 & Pharoah. Every recording By Speaker Damage is done using 4 decks and is a spontaneous invention.  Neither DJ has any preconceived tracks or direction in mind. This is the reasoning behind the name "Musical Mandala". Much like the Tibetan Monks who spend years painstakingly making intricate mandala's by dropping small streams of different colored sand from their hands, only to wipe the canvas clean the moment they finish, SP1 & Pharoah use the music they have gathered over decades to create these special mixes. Each mix is only played once and it is a true spontaneous invention, never to be played again but recorded for prosperity's sake.

Played this set at Club Madarae for my friend Ly and Samantha's studio 54 themed birthday party.  To stay inline with theme, it's ful of vocal disco house and nu-disco remixes of the classic tracks I would envision would be played at Studio 54.

Naughty or Nice Christmas party at the Circus Church.  Had another Christmas party that ended at 11:45 and rushed over the Circus Church and was able to catch the 2nd half of Lucho’s set before I started at 1:00.  Little bit of some questionable mixing and didn’t have too much time to dig through new releases so there’s some faves I’ve been playing out a lot mixed with some freshness as well.  Enjoy!

💥TECH HOUSE💥 Cmax is a second generation DJ.  His father was among the first djs to start the movement and offer to play records at clubs in the early 70's out in New Brunswick Canada.  Cmax has been an avid music festival attendee here in BC for years now,  having hit his first Shambhala in 2004 and watching Basscoast grow to be one of the most desirable festivals in Canada. The summer of 2021 brought on the opportunity to put a set together for Under the stars festival.  His first passion was emceeing so when he got the chance to finally combine them he could not turn it down. Tech house with a dash of DNB and Funk 🔊💯🎶❤️  “ City Props was an idea I came up with in the summer of 2022,  displaying where each producer is from during my set and paying homage to the city where the music was produced, remixed or edited.  There are so many dope places all over the world pumping out different genres of music and they all have their own piece of flavour attached to them.
