q. pls introduce yourself

a: I’m James Hearne, I live in Bristol UK - I’ve held residencies on 1020, Noods and Unmade Radio and with the club night PTS.

q. is there a story behind the mix? how did it come together?

a: The mix I guess is my way of recoding reality for a second or two, an opportunity to live out that sci-fi adventure that I was born just short of experiencing first hand.


q. in your opinion, what would be the ideal circumstances to enjoy your mix?

a: I think in the day to day - it’s an opportunity to separate from the pleasant/unpleasant goings on in our existences during a working week.


q. describe a favourite object in your living room...

a: It has to be a really great bit of artwork that my partner painted - a man in thought that has been texturised by long brushstrokes downwards throughout the piece. My interpretation is a disruption of the way we code our memories.


q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?

a: I’m currently trying to tie up a few EP\s that centre around ‘bass’ music but are slightly more ambient/ ‘sound designy’ in nature, Watch this space.

"Unseen” is a minimal cinematic journey through silence, tension, and emotion.
Built on fragile textures, sparse piano tones, and haunting ambient layers, this piece drifts through stillness, capturing the quiet weight of reflection, uncertainty, and human vulnerability.

At just 55 BPM in C minor, it moves slowly and deliberately, allowing space and resonance to tell the story. Subtle synths, distant harmonics, and soft reverberations create an atmosphere of emotional depth and fragile beauty, like the final thoughts before a turning point.

For moments of stillness, introspection, and cinematic calm.

Created during a short pause in my main “sharp-series,” this piece came from the simple urge to make something — even when time wouldn’t allow for a full project.

Built on water textures and a vintage upright piano, it layers the creak of old wood with soft ripples of sound.
Not quite a dream, not quite a memory — just a brief moment of stillness.

Play it when you need to breathe,
or when you just want the world to soften for a little while.
