A couple months ago I started a project to turn my normal journaling process into a channel flipping experience! All the scratch work and raw ideas packaged together. I noticed I loved listening to all my nascent and unfinished ideas playing through my composition journals, so I decided all the new ones I would start making into a listening experience!

Hashman Deejay - My Banjo

Tokyo-based producer Yosuke Tokunaga (@yosuketokunaga) makes his debut on Prepaid Records. Already known through his releases on UK-based label Strange Rules as well as US-based Madriguera, he can be considered a hidden pearl in abstract beat music. Tokunaga uses a minimalistic compositional mentality in his works. Simple structures and consistent rules are defining his style as well as his sound aesthetics. "7 Patterns" follows the same path of sketch-type and filtered tracks.

This music was improvised and recorded on April 31st in the quiet bunker-esque venue, Ausland, just 20 doors down from where I live in Berlin. Additional processes and editing were competed on May 2nd 2020. Special thanks to Cafe Oto, Billy Steiger, Petter Eldh and Sophie Fetokaki for their part in the making of this work.
