The Theory Therapy series hits number 30 with a genre-dissolving mix from producer and sound artist Adam Dove, best known as Nexcyia. Adam is currently based between London and Paris, and over the last year or so, his shape-shifting brand of electronic music has been picked up on labels including Cafe OTO, Alien Jams and Cherche Encore.

Adam's mix drifts between ambient, illbient and dubby textures, and features tracks from a bunch of other artists we’re also big fans of, including OL, Igor Dyachenko and Mistareez. It’s marked by many of the same qualities that distinguish his own music: undulating rhythms, operatic synths and disintegrating noise, plus some very well-executed left turns. Adam probably sums this one up best when he says: “This mix is a little different than the other ones.” Dive in below.

Scrying the Landscape XIV. The exquisitely mystifying 1981 film 𝘐𝘯 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘸 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘯 by Derek Jarman, sound tracked by Throbbing Gristle, offers a ritualistic journey into the English countryside. Inspired by the curious cinematography and sound of the avant-garde film, this episode of Scrying is our own iteration of its score in an attempt to capture similar narrative tools it uses to ascend into ancient worlds ever-present in the streets we all walk through: The slowing of frames skewing scenes of the (un)familiar landscape forsakes straight linearity and etches pathways to the mobility of experienced time. In the fragmentary nature of duration, consciousness shines through drawing out archetypal images of human existence in Jungian terms. For this, we reach out a sonic gesture to touch base with primaeval, inherited memories in a melting pot of pagan iconography and the mystery of the everyday.

Giesse and Big Hands present a live recording of their B2B from the festival CULTO - a Turin-based multidisciplinary event exploring contemporary electronic music, which took place in September 2023.

Thanks to his meticulous and transversal approach, Giesse's sets are linear and well-defined paths: an eclectic exploration that knows no boundaries, which alternates the concise charm of musical minimalism with the percussive and tireless dynamics typical of distant tribal practices; a precise identity imprint, a monolithic style that is difficult to emulate and that leaves no doubts. Operating from London's musical institution Honest Jon's Records, in 2020 he founded - alongside https://soundcloud.com/soreabuk - the label https://soundcloud.com/baroquesunburst, releasing a series of distinctive records operating in a space that runs parallel to, but never touches the generally accepted sound of club music.
