You Matter to Me

Carla is originally from Portugal, where she received formal vocal training in folk music in the Azores through the musical ensemble Grupo de Cantares Belaurora, and classical music in Lisbon at the Teatro São Luís. Carla started performing in public when she was 11 years old. She sang and played the traditional guitars of the São Miguel's island (12 strings) and the Terceira's island (16 strings). Carla composed several songs with her sister Ana Medeiros, and participated in eight CDs recorded by the Belaurora, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. While still part of the Belaurora, Carla performed in Portugal, France, Germany, Canada, and the United States (MA, RI, CA). In Portugal, Carla also participated in the chorus Orfeão Infantil Edmundo Machado de Oliveira, and the Gen Eletto youth group. In the United States, Carla participated in the Northampton Community College chorus Bel Canto Dalle Stelle. Presently, she is exploring the world of international music while living in France.
