My name is Christian Guy Nelson and I was born and raised in a little community called Sterling Valley, Washington. Sterling Valley is close to the little town of Creston and is where I have gone every day to attend school since Pre School. Now a senior in high school, and ASB President, I have been very serious in my quest to become a professional musician. Music has been the biggest part of my whole life. My Grandfather was a musician and my dad has also been a musician all of his life. That has pushed me since about three years old when I picked up my first guitar. I’ll never forget the first time I owned a guitar, I was about five years old, I had learned the basics, and I loved my guitar more than anything. I watched my father work on his guitar and he had left the drill around when he went outside. I thought it would be the most impressive thing if he came in and I had fixed my guitar just like him. (In reality of course there was nothing wrong with it). When he came in, my guitar was in pieces and the screws were all in my hand and I thought he would be so happy. Well he wasn’t, and the guitar wasn’t able to be put together because of everything being taken apart wrong and I had stripped a couple screws. That was the end of my first guitar. A few years later, I started singing, and then was practicing the bass. I was playing trumpet from elementary band and am currently playing as first trumpet in high school concert band, pep band, marching band, and jazz band. Then came along the drums and I love playing them just as much as guitar. I have made it a point all my life to not limit myself to the title of guitar player, singer, bassist, drummer, and so on. I have always strived to be a musician of many trades. I grew up listening to Metallica pretty heavily, and with the influence of playing old time country with my dad, it has inspired me to reach out to many genres. That’s just what I did. On my playlist I have anything from Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, to Nirvana and Nirvana, to Eminem and Tech N9ne, to Attila. All of that together has made me the musician I am today. I now write music with a mixed genre taste. It is a rhythmic lyric with a new age taste. If there was one artist I could compare myself to, it would be Imagine Dragons. My goal in life is to become a professional music artist. I stumbled upon the art of multi-track recording as a senior project idea; which I have been experimenting with quite frequently. It has inspired the thought to pre-record myself doing all of the instruments and harmony vocals to a song, and perform live vocals and rhythm guitar with the effect of a whole band with me. So far in my journey I have performed with my best friend at all of the yearly talent shows at our school, which ended up landing us our own gig date and a two hour concert for all of the local community. I perform monthly with a group including my dad to entertain and attract people of the community at the Creston Church movie nights. My father and I jam out every day which fulfills our need for playing music until the big moment happens. Aside from music, and I am very friendly, creative, energetic, and I like to be the comedian. I love hanging out with my friends, go to the lake, be a positive role model for others, even though of course I struggle with that sometimes in my quest to become the rock star of the group. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family and friends, my teachers at school who I’ve known since I first started in school, and that voice in my head that tells me to keep rocking from the moment I wake until my last thoughts when I sleep.
