This is the second album from the French duo Arom. It was recorded in the mid 00's and was supposed to be released in 2011. However, the project broke up and the album, mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, after a short time went into oblivion, disappearing from the internet.

Their music is trip-hop and indie pop, created with groovebox and synths, constantly going into a variety of sounds - be it soul, ethno or acid jazz under "straight drum". The main thing is the vocals in French and English, somewhat reminiscent of Björk. The authors of the project are Dominique for the music and Caroline for the vocals. The name Arom is a combination of the letters of their names (cARoline and dOMinique). They met for the first time in Paris in 1997 as students of the Conservatory and Theatre University. Their debut album was released in 2002 ("Jardin d'Eden").

Twenty years later, Label Cantroll releases their second album of the same name. This was made possible thanks to a label listener who spent a year looking for the authors, convincing them to publish the album and collecting the source tracks. 

“I got acquainted with Arom in my favorite column from Cantroll - #недооцененка (the column publishes underrated and good, but very rare music), where the debut album was published. At first I just liked the cover and the intriguing name of the band, but after listening - it became clear that this is one of the best albums I've ever listened to. I wanted to find more of their music. I got a piece of video from an old concert recording on the Ukrainian TV channel M1. I made a 4K remaster of this concert and decided to show it to the authors as a thank you. And here begins a real detective story! 

It turned out that the band is extremely unknown and the only official Facebook community contains all the known information. The band fell victim to some problems with the label. And the second album in 2011 had disappeared from the free access, as well as all the other songs as a result of the MySpace collapse. I had to write to everyone who was even registered in the community with a request to help get in touch with the artists to show them my remaster and find out the fate of the songs. A few people responded and helped me find the singer, Caroline, including her cousin by happy coincidence. Thus the first contact was established. 

Later, Dominique (the music writer) was also found. He didn't answer anything. There was nothing to do but keep searching for the songs myself and hope for a miracle. On the Discogs page of the second album - there are five people who have this album. I wrote to all of them and got an answer from one fan, who, according to his account information, is a death metal fan. He still has a copy of the album! I was happy for a while, but the thirst for new music and the sadness of not having it anymore made me look for more bits of new information or live recordings. And then all of a sudden a member of the band, Dominique, answers me. We had a productive conversation and he promised to send the second album in good quality.

Another half of a year passed. And Dominique sends me the master versions: the complete second album, the lost songs from MySpace and the unreleased tracks. After telling this story to Mark from Label Cantroll - we decided to revive the project from oblivion: to do the paperwork, make the covers and officially release two LP releases in 2022” - Alexey Dormidoshko, music enthusiast.

Sayok (@radioislost) is a one-man band project founded in 2021. In his music the author combines live instruments with electronic ones, sampled #beats with natural sounds from the surrounding world. The genre can be described as #downtempo hip-hop. The author defines nostalgia as the essence and mood of his music. Published on Label Cantroll.

From the author:  "As if an invisible pendulum swung from my usual depressive post-rock-ambient motifs to a completely different direction. I didn't interfere with this process, on the contrary, I tried to diverge from the habitual to help this pendulum to reach its maximum amplitude. These tracks were written at different times and symbolize different events, but somehow, miraculously, all of a sudden they come together in one big picture. The tracks are also united by the very approach to creation. I am a guitarist and usually all the musical ideas begin and end with guitar. But here I decided to limit its use as much as possible. All the music is still made by electric guitar, but later on I was repeating or replacing the created parts by means of synthesizers. As a result, the guitar has one or two tracks at the most in each track, and in "Snow Out" the bass guitar sounds as well".

"Парадигма особого настроения" — экспериментальный мини-альбом дуэта из Челябинска, изданный на Label Cantroll в 2012 году. Музыка очень визуальна, почти кинематографична. Она балансирует сразу на нескольких гранях: незатейливое даунтемпо, которое периодически мутирует в абстрактный хип-хоп с фанковыми гитарами и атмосферной электроникой. Альбом содержит совместные треки с челябинским исполнителем My Automata ("Wind" — это популярный самый трек в те годы от обоих авторов) и канадским битмейкером Mr. Moods (резидент лейблов Dusted Wax Kingdom и Nuages Records). Презентация альбома прошла в Челябинске и Екатеринбурге, специальным гостем данных концертов был исполнитель из Голландии — Skiggy Rapz.

От авторов: "Грязные дворы в многоэтажных кварталах с крохотным кухнями влияют на человека сильнее, чем большинство событий в стране. Важно иметь возможность уходить от визуального, словесного и жизненного мусора и найти что-то новое. Важно иногда видеть пустой (или новый) горизонт и найти свободное время для него. Эта музыка была написана именно с такой мотивацией. Это ощущение времени, взгляд на текущее положение дел, перемены и сопутствующее им "особое настроение".

@Pauliq — the project of the Moscow programmer Pavel Yanonis. Beautiful harmonies, confident beats and unexpected samples from different parts of our lives — this is what the author mixes in his work. It is a mix of melodic instrumental hip-hop, downtempo and soft breakbeat. Pavel made his debut in 2019, releasing his first album "Hello World" on vinyl.

Label Cantroll (earlier Cuntroll) is a music label that has been producing downtempo, trip-hop, chill-hop and abstract hip-hop releases since 2008. The label produces the most interesting submitted material from both young and mature musicians. The resident team includes more than 50 bands and artists from all continents of the world.Among the artists can be noted the following projects — Nordgroove, Thiam, Asa Taura, Paradeigma, Arctic Lightz, Decision Space, Plushka, Mr Peel, Zaranka, Ogi feel the Beat, Surmachina and Samsara Inc.
 
The label brings people together, promotes experimental music in Russia, and helps musicians find their listeners. Cantroll does not publish music on physical media, does not do mastering and mixing. The label helps to make an advertising campaign for the album on the Internet. And is the most authoritative music label in Russia in its genres.

The label organizes various contests for authors, collaborations with Jamendo, VK Clips, Groover and other platforms, annual qualifying rounds for international compilations Downtown and Take a Trip. Various thematic entertainment and educational rubrics are published for listeners. There is a 24-hour web-radio.

Resident tracks are played by YouTube-bloggers in conversational and entertaining videos, as well as in commercials for brands: Renault, Doogee, football club Nice, Discovery TV channel, UMMC, Azimut airline, GQ Germany. The main novelties regularly get into rotation on radio stations, curated playlists of VK Music, Yandex Music and other platforms.

Earlier, label head Mark Shishlev organized his own events in different Russian cities: both with the participation of label residents and with reputable European bands. Among the projects we can mention international trip-hop music festivals "Metagalaxy", which united more than 30 bands from different cities and countries (including - Iuno, Micatone, 9Lazy9, Hidden Orchestra, Arts The Beatdoctor, Skiggy Rapz, The Herbaliser, Sofa Surfers, Bugge Wesseltoft, Doctor Flake, Glen Porter, Elsiane, Flunk).
