Coacris premier her first bilingual song entitled “Soy Tu Mejor”, in which shows off her lyrics prowess by effortlessly delivering punch lines in English and Spanish. Lines like “Mi amor say what you’re thinking/ Diga, Diga, like you’ve been drinking” and “Baby, stay with me/ Otra noche/ right now/ why wait?/ el tiempo es oro” pay homage to the complex language that is Spanish while cleverly using it to layer meanings.

Coacris is an artist out of Fayetteville, N.C. She began her musical journey picking up trumpet in the 6th grade. Since she has played in various ensembles, orchestras and chamber groups. Which opened her up learning a variety of instruments including piano, drumkit and ukulele. Her roots in music theory and being an instrumentalist show in her compositions. She started singing in the choir at New Mission First Baptist, later sung alto in Fayetteville State’s Concert Choir 2015-2016 and Fayetteville Technical Community College 2020.

Coacris’ first favorite rapper was Eminem. Her brothers exposed her to his lyricism at a young age and it stuck with her throughout childhood and adolescence. Coa began writing poetry in elementary school and would show her friends. It wasn’t until high school that she decided to put one of her poems to an instrumental. Coacris shared the recording with a few friends and received positive feedback. She started taking her writing more seriously in 2017 when she released her first track to Soundcloud, ‘Rain on my Heart’. ‘Rain on my Heart’ was a special release because the track was completely composed, written, mixed and performed by Coacris. This sparked the establishment of Hughes House of Music. Frustrated with her situation Coacris vowed to push towards her dream.
