The sky was clearer than ever tonight, its canvas studded with a thousand stars. The night air felt cool on her face as she made her way to the top of the hill to gaze at the atmosphere above; a ritual that had now become a part of her daily life. From up here she could see everything; the hazy lights emitting from the village below, the pylons that seemed to tower over the landscape and the winding river that stretched for miles. From up here, she felt on top of the world, like a predator presiding over its empire...

Dischi Autunno bosses Jennifer Cardini and Noura Labbani have been hard at work on their label's next dispatch: a whopping 22 track compilation split across two parts. Exploring the plethora of sounds that orbit the imprint—from electro, italo and acid to synthwave, coldwave and lo-fi— 'Intermezzo' unites artists from across these musical spectrums, including previous label mates like Curses, Pablo Bozzi, Chinaski, The Golden Filter and Younger Than Me, as well as new, burgeoning talent including Mogambo, Zillas on Acid and A Strange Wedding.

Exclusive: Ponty Mython - Onimano X991

It's been a moment since Ponty Mython, Alex Pletnev's anagram alias and one of the many monikers the artist calls his own, drops his first full EP, Onimano X991, after having taken some time off, at least from producing more housier music. According to the artist, he's dedicated himself to computer games, where he found new inspiration in the earlier Need for Speed series, invested into crypto currencies and shaved his beard off. Actually Alex has become an ordinary human being over the past months before joining the electronic music scene again for his EP on Not An Animal Records. Before the release of it in a few days, the artist speaks about the scene in and around Opium Club in Vilnius, that he took things way too serious a few years back, how a bar saved his life and of course the EP itself.

Since 2014, Public Release has been enlisting the raw, trademark groove of Richard Sen on a variety of now- renowned remixes. Label boss Eug has cited him in numerous interviews as being one of his all-time favourite producers, so it was inevitable that a solo EP would eventually materialize. That time has finally come, and in the Spring of 2022, the UK legend drops his solo EP “My Definition of Funk” on Public Release.

These three raw, gritty, hard-hitting, peak-time tracks are quintessential Richard Sen, combining the energy and influences of post-punk, breaks, and house in one sturdy sonic package.

Juan Ramos and Trent AKA Greenvision are back for pENE d’Amore part 2, a collaborative release between Berlin’s Cocktail d’Amore Music and Ene Tokyo.
This precious 12” follows Rambutan, the duo’s offering to Los Angeles’ ESP Institute. The cover is made by visual artist Giulia Munari and reminds of the melting pattern of a Murano glass, referencing indeed the abundance the listener is soon to discover putting the needle on this record.
A multitude of acid lines tinged with a touch of trance and a carefree melody roll over an almost off-beat groove in Mountain of Madness, taking over A side.
On the flip, the didgeridoo-based Rolling2joints takes the listener exploring a mystical forest on a distant planet.
Again disorienting, psychedelic and explosive, Greenvsion’s productions sound like riddles to be solved, puzzles to be composed.
Their unique sonic layering philosophy results in an almost unclassifiable music genre ready to please the thirstier dance-floors.

A - Mountain Of Madness

The summer sun is high in the sky. A cocktail in hand. The soundtrack? Chiara. Steeped in Latin rhythms, produced with the golden touch of Francesco de Bellis (Francisco), this two-tracker is set to a serious groove. Beats chatter and mingle in the evening heat of “Rec” Bass smoothness and brassy blasts are sweetened by Chiara’s vocals before dramatic strings flash like lightning, igniting this already energy-packed encounter. “Studio Line” continues that theatrical touch. Bold keys, echoing the cinematic grandeur of Italy, are supported by dynamic drum patterns as a vocal sample circles. Styles spin and spiral, the track twirling between genre tags refusing to be pigeonholed. Elements of East and West glide and pirouette hand in hand across this stunning 7”, Chiara offering the perfect soundtrack to dance from dusk to dawn.

When it came to making big decisions, he always sat on the fence. He preferred to play it safe and not upset the apple cart, but sometimes that backfired. Those around him urged him to take risks, to occasionally listen to the devil on his shoulder but politeness always reared its head. 

In September, Inside Out Records welcomed Hivern Discs alumni Steve Pepe to the family for his off kilter LP Vivere in Diagonale. As a follow up to the release the label has enlisted a host of producers to put their own spin on several of the tracks off the release, bringing their own unique textures and flavours to the table. Reinterpretations come via label mates Stevie R and Parisinos, Salon des Amateurs mainstay Tolouse low Trax, Ninja Tune producer Lamusa II, Huntleys + Palmers affiliate nICo and Macadam Mambo & fellow Hivern Discs collaborator Eva Geist who delivers an acoustic, nostalgic rework of 'Il Diavolo'.
