"1point5 is back for his first solo EP on In:flux Audio since 'Perception' back in January 2015. He has been pottering around the label plenty since then though, with plenty of remixes and of course, his collab EP last November with founders Tik&Borrow. This time round we showcase three tracks from the producer, all of which showcase his evolution into firmer Dubstep territory, whilst retaining that signature 2-step 1point5 sound that we know and love.

On remixes, it's a selection of label loves who are returning the favour to 1point5 after he provided superb remixes on their EPs. Ali McK & IYZ are up first, with their reworking of 'Backspace' - a more twinkly affair with a superb reworking of the lead section into something more dark and brooding, whilst still retaining the duos ear for a banger. Fork and Knife closes out the EP with his UK Garage take on the lead track 'Solar Signal', all percussion, wubs and vibes - the perfect exit to a stunning EP."

Fresh from releases on Artikal Music, Navy Cut, Modern Hypnosis, and Green King Cuts, Melbourne-based badman Alex Dickson AKA Pugilist delivers a study in contrast for ZamZam 66, with two choice cuts, “Roll Off” and “Hemisphere.”  

A-Side “Roll Off” calls all dancers to the floor with a massive dubwise take on dark garage, often imagined in fever dreams of bass madness but seldom heard in real life.  808 bass propels distorted kicks and slapping snares through rifts of reverb & space torn open by the relentless percussion. Call it bruk-techno, 130-jungle, ruffneck-raggabreaks or whatever you like, “Roll Off” will have the floor shocking out and demanding a pull-up.  

A depth charge of dubness, B-side “Hemisphere” goes two miles straight down, as a minimalist cycling bass figure pulls us deeper and deeper, martial drum fills and ricocheting high hats like gaseous bubbles rising from deep-sea vents where no light penetrates.  Lonely stabs and lasers pierce the darkness intermittently, only to be swallowed again by the void. Deep, swaggering dub techno mapping a desolate but beautiful landscape. Sounds from the Well indeed.

Following a stellar run of jungle and breakbeat-oriented releases including the foundational Foul Play Origins set and the visionary proto-retro styles of X-Altera, Sneaker Social Club welcome a true master of drum science. 

As Paradox and Alaska, Dev Pandya has been setting standards and breaking new ground in breakbeat hardcore, jungle and drum & bass since the dawn of the culture. He was right there at the start of Moving Shadow, has graced seminal labels like Reinforced, Good Looking and Metalheadz and steered his own Paradox Music, Esoteric and Arctic Music as vessels for a huge body of work. Still toting his Amiga for live gigs and putting out bonus 12”s loaded with samples for producers, Pandya’s passionate commitment to the culture is evident in everything he does. Nowhere does that shine through more than in his needlepoint flair for break editing and drum programming – the calling card of the Paradox sound. 

It’s a huge honour to host two original Paradox tracks on Sneaker. We’re treated to full-fat Paradox percussion alchemy on “Octa4” as he teases out the intensity around a salvo of dancehall toasting samples, trickling each progressive layer of rhythm into the mix with the patience and poise of a true master. “Proceed” leans on dub techno atmospherics and a taut funk break that occasionally cuts loose into a ride-splashing fill, but once again the message here is one of heads-down restraint. Across both tracks the emphasis is on the fine print – each composed drum hit and subtle shift of FX – while riding deep in a masterfully constructed groove. Proof, if ever it were needed, why Pandya is the king of understated D&B excellence.

Hello, I am Moon Born Unicorn, an experimental drum and bass producer and DJ. If you like drum and bass your in the right place! With more practice my music will only get better! All my music is free, you can download it, feature it on a mix or playlist, go ahead! I make one repost a day and they are all extremely good! DJ MBUC is my DJ name, Moon Born Unicorn is my producer name. I live in a place where dnb is still underground. In fact I didn't discover it until I was in my mid 20's. Sure I had heard it before here and there, but I had never felt it. Not until listing to an essential mix by High Contrast from 2007 while in the right state of mind.  I remember that moment when I got hooked in the summer of 2014 and I have never looked back. I spent the next several years going deeper down the dnb rabbit hole until eventually I decided to start making it. This would have been around the spring of 2019.  Unfortunately my 2007 MacBook had died on me about a year earlier.  This lead me to making dnb beats on my iPhone, and they weren't bad, much of my music on Soundcloud  was made on that iPhone. Doing this motivated me to to get a computer geared towards music production and start taking myself seriously.
