GREG WILSON’S EARLY 80’S FLOORFILLERS: 
A fascinating insight on how the fading Jazz-Funk scene gave way to the emerging Electro-Funk movement in the early 80’s, ‘Greg Wilson’s Early 80’s Floorfillers’, marks the 30th anniversary of when these tracks first appeared. Compiled from his record lists of the time, and unfolding month by month, Greg Wilson counts down the Top 10 Floorfillers played at his venues during the key years of ’82 and ’83. Featured, most notably, on his Tuesday sessions at Wigan Pier and Wednesday gatherings at Legend in Manchester, the most cutting-edge weekly black music nights of the era, these were the clubs most associated with the evolving Electro-Funk sound.

The majority of music played on the black scene in the UK was initially only available on import, mainly out of New York during this period, with the club nights described as ‘upfront’, meaning that the DJ’s were way ahead of the curve – what they played now, others played later, or not at all. Without these DJ’s, many now classic dance tracks would never have become UK hits (many without enjoying similar crossover success in the US) – the reason they were released here in the first place was because these specialist DJ’s were breaking them via the underground.

Things would change in a big way during those 2 years; we were entering the hybrid age for dance music, and the oncoming House and Techno and Hip Hop directions would all owe a huge debt to this era of dance alchemy and groove experimentation.

This limited edition CD was gifted by Coco Latté's founder, Nicholas Chrisostomou, to every guest who attended the first birthday party on Friday night 19th June 1999, and distributed far and wide thereafter

almost 3 hours of some of my favourite disco tracks, some original disco, some re edits (be forgiving of a couple of the mixes as the live drums wander all over the place on disco when your trying to mix it together, but its all still pretty tight considering)
Disco music never fails to cheer me up and I think that's what we all need right now with the madness going on around us! 
Blast it loud on a sunny day!
And for any disco purists I threw a bit of Womack and Womack and few other bits in there too, I know their not technically disco but I love it and its all just a bit of fun! :D

Following a series of one-off clubnights at a variety of unique nightlife locations, in 1998, Coco Latté found a permanent home at Chocolate Bar on the corner of Berkeley Square in Mayfair, London.

After a few months, Coco Latté nights at Chocolate Bar were the place to be seen, regularly attracting leading lights of fashion, music, stage and screen including Alexander McQueen, Robbie Williams, Dominico Dolce, Stefano Gabbana and Janet Jackson. DJs who played at Coco Latté included Alan Thompson, Smokin Jo, Boy George, Fat Tony, Princess Julia and The Sharp Boys.

Within a year, Coco Latté clubnights and bespoke events conceptualised by Nicholas and his team popped-up in Ibiza, Amsterdam, Jo’burg, Cape Town, Kuala Lumpur and beyond. 

A few years after the turn of the millennium, Coco Latté conceived, planned and managed the two-day grand opening event for the first ever W Hotel to open in Asia-Pacific, in Seoul, complete with Coco Latté DJs and performers flown in from London. 

A decade after the brand was first born, Nicholas co-designed and launched a swish new London nightclub, Coco Latté SW5, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The opening night DJ was Danny Rampling and the celebrities who filled the Jimmie Martin-designed VIP lounge included Julien Macdonald, David Gandy, Naomi Campbell and Beverley Knight.
