STEFAN RIEGAUF - Behind The Dust (Mihai Popoviciu Remix)

Long overdue, we are happy to welcome Damiano von Erckert to Cocoon Recordings with his debut single, bringing late summer vibes that were well worth the wait. Damiano's lovely energy shines through in this EP, resulting in music that blends soulful character with his signature house sound.

“Steam (Staub Mix)” lifts your spirits from the very first beat, and the summery vibe of the housey Rhodes piano brings a smile to your face. Yet, the track retains a somewhat wistful and melancholy feel. Skillful intonation gives the break a jazzy feel, it's this friction that makes it special. Von Erckert showcases his skill with this playful arrangement, sure to have dancers' hands reaching skyward. The second track “Das Was Not Around” is a masterclass in purism, where simplicity meets profound emotion. Swirly synth pads unfold to create a dreamy, immersive atmosphere, pulling listeners into its depths. Despite its introspective title, a sense of hopefulness permeates the track, as if reaching for light through the shadows. "Fantazia 93" is a nostalgic dive into a ‘90s House vibe, channeling the essence of that unforgettable era with authenticity. When a new RAXON release drops it’s always strongly recommended to firmly hold your socks and pants as they might get blown off. And oh dear… We caught him in an extraordinarily randy mood for his 4th outing on our prestigious Speicher series. “Acid Call” is a positively rude high energy funk beast, ready to take dancehalls of any size or color to pieces. With “Don’t Cry Pluto” Raxon turns into a punk version of the legendary Pied Piper, graciously luring us away from this boring village into a world of fun-fueled madness. What a guy, this Raxon!

The Day After

The second platter from Hector – "Orale" – complete with two outstanding remixes from SIS and Alex Picone. "Orale" is a slow burner of a track, starting off with a smooth chuggy groove, a pulsating bassline and carefully placed vocal snippets. A tantalisingly long breakdown later, we’re treated to a killer drop and then ushered into about 7 minutes of dancefloor nirvana. Simple as that. 

Following that is Alex Picone’s remix. A recent guest at one of our parties (he smashed it btw), we couldn’t help but ask Alex for a remix. Going for a straight to the dancefloor approach, mr Picone’s remix is all chunky beats, syncopated snares and a very big kick drum. And when you think it’s all over, a looped sax lick comes in and takes the whole thing a level higher. 

Rounding up the record is the pièce de résistance – an absolutely breathtaking remix from SIS. A very dreamy, end-of-night sort of record, SIS’s remix of "Orale" is a quite frankly one of the best things we’ve heard in a while. Melodic and very textured, there’s lots of playful little elements that will keep you guessing every time you listen to it.

Cocoon Recordings has been founded in the year 2000 as a part of the Cocoon Music Event GmbH. Sven Väth has initiated Cocoon Recordings in order to complete the Cocoon platform as a supporting tool for young artists in Electronic Music. The label philosophy is as simple as demanding: helping young producers and DJs to release their music without depending on Major Label structures. The releases can mainly be assigned to the genres Techno and House.

Cocoon Recordings as a label and Sven Väth as an artist stand for the use of vinyl as sound carrier, also in the future. Admittedly, the Digital Division of Cocoon Recordings has also been set up in 2008 and the numbers of downloads are indeed enjoyable. However, the label's focus is on vinyl, now and in the future. In order to complete the range of services that Cocoon Recordings offers, the publishing company Cocoon Publishing was founded in 2010.
