Long overdue, we are happy to welcome Damiano von Erckert to Cocoon Recordings with his debut single, bringing late summer vibes that were well worth the wait. Damiano's lovely energy shines through in this EP, resulting in music that blends soulful character with his signature house sound.

“Steam (Staub Mix)” lifts your spirits from the very first beat, and the summery vibe of the housey Rhodes piano brings a smile to your face. Yet, the track retains a somewhat wistful and melancholy feel. Skillful intonation gives the break a jazzy feel, it's this friction that makes it special. Tuscany-born Marco Faraone and Uruguay-guy Diego Infanzon are currently based on the sweating edge of contemporary Eurotechno. “My Own Reason” kicks off their Turbo debut with an Italo-trance dancehorse that poses the answer-hungry question, “Who Are We and Where Are We Go?” Post-leadoff track “Breaking the Rules” incites the crowd to overthrow its masters at the municipal level and beyond, over a vascular throb that evokes the word “sinew” like few other floor-fillers released this month. And “Level One” gets you in on the ground floor of the Qatar’s tallest nightclub, with what everyone will immediately recognize as frisk n’ tug NDA acid.

Just as any serious intellectual has spent the past decade contemplating the Trolley Problem and nothing else, any self-respecting FLAC collector has got to get in on this digital release, which includes the closer “Control Your Mind.” We are not telling you what to do here, but we will point out that this moving example of Cyber-Altruism is just another reason why “Go for It” is our middle name.

Having become a member of the Moon Harbour agency and label family recently, Germany’s mysterious Sable Sheep is back with a new four track EP that continues to explore his trademark tribal tinged tech house sound with great panache.  Sable Sheep is no stranger to success given the widespread deployment of his previous tracks like ‘Painting My Fur’, and that’s a good job, because all of his latest missives are sure-fire dancefloor dynamite.

Upon Burning Skies is the opening track, and one that builds and builds in tension to an invisible peak that will have ravers on the edge of their feet as the tribal male chanting acts like a call to action above bouncing, buoyant kick drums and slick percussive details.  A dub version is also included in the package.

Torn To Pieces is another full-blooded groove that will lock you in from the very first rubbery kick and silvery hi hat ringlet. As they roll on next to each other without any friction at all, a knotted bassline and deft little synth stabs add some detail as a warm wind seems to howl in the background. Its stripped back but fills the airwaves and is the sort of physical track its impossible not to get carried away by.

Finally, Thy Suffer is another warm concoction of sound that Sable Sheep fills with rattling drum hits and sandy shakers. Some twitching alien sounds suggest the presence of life amongst the machines and the deep looping kicks help draw you in.

An EP produced with great precision restraint, Sable Sheep knows just how much to add into the without over doing things or allowing things to get stuck in a rut – it’s a perfect balancing act that is designed for maximum impact on the dancefloor.

Cocoon Recordings has been founded in the year 2000 as a part of the Cocoon Music Event GmbH. Sven Väth has initiated Cocoon Recordings in order to complete the Cocoon platform as a supporting tool for young artists in Electronic Music. The label philosophy is as simple as demanding: helping young producers and DJs to release their music without depending on Major Label structures. The releases can mainly be assigned to the genres Techno and House.

Cocoon Recordings as a label and Sven Väth as an artist stand for the use of vinyl as sound carrier, also in the future. Admittedly, the Digital Division of Cocoon Recordings has also been set up in 2008 and the numbers of downloads are indeed enjoyable. However, the label's focus is on vinyl, now and in the future. In order to complete the range of services that Cocoon Recordings offers, the publishing company Cocoon Publishing was founded in 2010.
