Listening back to Roman Poncet’s first releases just a couple years ago, they already hinted at the producer’s keen technical abilities and a knack for rich texturing, resulting in tracks that were both carried by force and form. What he delivers now is an impressively mature debut album, ripe with personal creative realization.

On Gypsophila the French producer uses the extended format to slowly shape up a scenery of epic proportions where surprise and constant change lurk around every corner. A certain sense of progression and evolution runs throughout Poncet’s music; it invariably keeps one locked in, no matter for the opening drones of Do Not or the patiently growing Thick Vegetation, which fuses tribal percussion and choral chants to showcase another of this LP’s key features: its dense soundscape, which at once feels inherently electronic yet deeply organic, translating the abstract futuristic themes of techno into something jam-packed and heady albeit steadily grounded - a listening experience that is as dreamy as it remains tangible.

This holds true for the highly atmospheric synth-lead pieces, such as the cinematic intro Hello You, the elevating arp-ride Epreuve or the suspended celestial groove of Atlas. But equally goes for the floor-focused rhythms, like relentless steam engine-workout Piege or mid-album mind-trip In Aeternam. Adding even more variety and depth to the mix, the tidal title track is given its own side to explore the sheer endless expanses of dub...

Bundling the complete range of his influences, Gypsophila marks the pinnacle of Roman Poncet's work to date. Covering a spectrum this broad in his very own way, the album proves as relevant for the current club scene as it will be for repeated return visits.

Musically we are exploring the ‘power or powerlessness people feel over the things that shape their world’

Building on the success of Vol 1, Detroit pioneers Octave One now serve up Locus of Control Volume 2, continuing their journey of exploration of power or powerlessness over what moves one’s world. 
This EP comes after a busy series of shows for the most famous live act in all of techno, with them recently having played everywhere from Piknic Électronik Montréal to Movement to Dimensions Festival and many more. The show is an all new audio-visual experience for 2019 and continues to keep them at the forefront of the scene despite more than 30 years of experience. Locus of Control Part 2 follows a remix of Giorgia Angiuli and lands on their own 430 West label once more. 

This EP series takes its name from a psychological concept that refers to how strongly people believe they have control over the situations and experiences that affect their lives. Part 1 showcased euphoric piano stabs and uplifting drum lines, and Part 2 explores more propulsive techno. 

Up first, ‘Afrotech’ is a seven minute techno adventure. It’s built on sleek, crisp drums with twisted synths writhing about up top. The devil is in the detail and the way the synths are subtly tweaked throughout to make for a most dynamic journey once more from these brillaint brothers. 

The excellent ‘Detune’ is a futuristic track with layers of shiny metallic drums and taught synth riffs that make for a tense and thrilling ride. Big drums power things along and the whole thing is the sort of sensory overload that will blow up even the biggest warehouse parties and festival stages. 

These are two more powerful tracks from the ever essential Octave One.

Cocoon Recordings has been founded in the year 2000 as a part of the Cocoon Music Event GmbH. Sven Väth has initiated Cocoon Recordings in order to complete the Cocoon platform as a supporting tool for young artists in Electronic Music. The label philosophy is as simple as demanding: helping young producers and DJs to release their music without depending on Major Label structures. The releases can mainly be assigned to the genres Techno and House.

Cocoon Recordings as a label and Sven Väth as an artist stand for the use of vinyl as sound carrier, also in the future. Admittedly, the Digital Division of Cocoon Recordings has also been set up in 2008 and the numbers of downloads are indeed enjoyable. However, the label's focus is on vinyl, now and in the future. In order to complete the range of services that Cocoon Recordings offers, the publishing company Cocoon Publishing was founded in 2010.
