After the first Ricardo Tobar remix edition (featuring remixes by John Tejada and Fairmont) on Cocoon Recordings we are proud to present the next chapter with remixes by Lawrence and Midnight Operator (Mathew and Nathan Jonson). 2016 seems to continue as we started it: With high quality music by great artists presenting us amazing techno in an unique and tasty style.

Midnight Operator, the joint project of the two Jonson brothers, picked Tobars "Angora" for their remix and the result appears very fresh and housey. Their bassline programming adds a nice italo-disco vibe to their version of „Angora“. Together with their strings and melody-parts the Midnight Operator remix is turning into the perfect soundtrack for the upcoming spring nights: We hear flowers, birds, butterflies and feel the warm air ... not to mention that our feet start moving and dancing.

Dial mastermind Lawrence contributes the fourth remix to Tobars album: His version of "Red Light" explores the emotional side of techno and house. We dive into deep spaces, spheric melodies and an atmosphere close to the vibe of the great works of Kraftwerk - this is impressive! Lawrence "Red Light" version presents the musical side of techno to us - a timeless piece of music with a chill-out flavoured beat and synth programming.

"Just" wastes no time locking the brisk rhythm into place before a wriggling earworm of a lead pans across the channels. Atmospheric swells are pieced by gatling-gun snares; the tension builds but never releases, making this a surefire precursor to the bulk of heavyweight set climaxes you're likely to hear this summer. As ever, the aural equivalent of 20,000 bicep emojis.

MANIK’s star has been rising for the past few years, and this latest release on Poker Flat Recordings suggests the young New Yorker has a lot up his sleeve for 2016. Having already dropped dancefloor bombs on the likes of Hot Creations and Ovum, and spun everywhere from Panorama Bar to Womb in Tokyo, the Weights and Measures EP solidifes his emerging reputation as fresh voice on the scene. 

The release kicks off with 'Thirsty Crow' - a tightly wound groove that breaks down the barriers between house and techno effortlessly. The track builds around an infectious synth melody, and the interplay between various percussive elements - all designed for maximum damage on the dancefloor.

Weights & Measures' is a deeply acidic affair that finds space for some luscious pads to break the tension, while 'Complexity' riffs off a classic house vibe but throws in some deeply leftfield sounds and rhythms for the heads.

'Heard One' (a Beatport- only exclusive) also takes its cue from classic Chicago sounds, but updates it with some distinctly contemporary flavour and vocals from MC Kew G.

Located on the banks of the Rhine, Westerwald sounds like a far flung fantasy kingdom. Well known for its idyllic scenery and mountainous landscapes, the German region regularly provides inspiration for the likes of Dominik Eulberg, Gabriel Ananda and now Tim Engelhardt. 

The shining status alongside his illustrious peers is testament to Tim’s talent. At seventeen he released ‘Everything Is All You Have’ on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat label and he returned late last year with the excellent ‘Enigmatism’ EP.  He's also showcased his skills on Parquet, Babiczstyle and, most recently, Upon.You. Here we find him upping the ante once more with an impressive debut on Joris Voorn & Edwin Oostwal’s GREEN imprint.  

His trademark expansive melodic structures and exquisite use of harmonies are in evidence again as we’re wowed by the spine-tingling beauty of ‘Pan’ and blown away by the intricate, wonderful and aptly titled ‘Trabant’.

Cocoon Recordings has been founded in the year 2000 as a part of the Cocoon Music Event GmbH. Sven Väth has initiated Cocoon Recordings in order to complete the Cocoon platform as a supporting tool for young artists in Electronic Music. The label philosophy is as simple as demanding: helping young producers and DJs to release their music without depending on Major Label structures. The releases can mainly be assigned to the genres Techno and House.

Cocoon Recordings as a label and Sven Väth as an artist stand for the use of vinyl as sound carrier, also in the future. Admittedly, the Digital Division of Cocoon Recordings has also been set up in 2008 and the numbers of downloads are indeed enjoyable. However, the label's focus is on vinyl, now and in the future. In order to complete the range of services that Cocoon Recordings offers, the publishing company Cocoon Publishing was founded in 2010.
