This one is a little bit special. A spellbinding, emotional remix from Convextion as he reworks a track from ReKab into something delicate and remarkable. Tinged with poignant optimism this one has tears on the dancefloor written all over it.

French producer, DJ and Recit de Voyage label boss Molly makes a welcome return to Phlipp Priebe’s Stólar imprint this March with ‘Island Flow’ accompanied by remixes from Tobi Neumann and Priebe himself.
French artist Molly was a staple of the Parisian underground for multiple decades and remains so while nowadays calling the island of Corsica her home. Her material has found its way onto widely revered labels such as Dial, Giegling, Cin Cin and of course Stólar, this new EP follows on from 2023’s ‘On The Road Again’ which came accompanied by two remixes from Dial co-founder, Lawrence and Dial artist Soela.
The haunting, murky feel of ‘The News’ opens the EP and perfectly sets the tone, fusing tension building drones with cutting bass grooves, skippy dynsmic percussion and hypnotic chimes before ‘Liamone’ leans into Molly’s ambient influences, merging ocean field recordings with enchanting synth melodies, twinkling chimes and plucked synths. Apollo Studio’s Tobi Neumann then steps in to rework ‘Liamone’ next, stamping his uniquely charming aesthetic on things, extracting the core soul of the original and fusing it together with bubbling synth melodies, modulating rhythms and a delicately unfolding structure to provide a cinematic gem primed for the early hours of the morning.
Lastly to round out the release, label boss Philipp Priebe reshapes both originals, firstly ‘The News’ which he twists into a sturdy loop driven dance floor tool while his twist of ‘Liamone’ embraces loose organic polyrhythms and expansive dubbed out reverberations of the original’s atmospheric roots.

The received coordinates indicated that the clue was deep in a dangerous ravine.
— Doc, this is not good! Why is it so quiet? — Cat asked, looking around warily.
— Pull yourself together and be ready for anything! — Spacelunch tried to keep his cool despite the growing anxiety.

Cautiously, they finally reached their destination and saw a grim sight: on the ground, among ancient stones and half-erased ruins, rested the skeleton of a huge dragon with a glass dodecahedron clutched in its paw. A dim light shone through the thick tree crowns, creating ominous shadows dancing around it. Nomad, sensing the tension of the moment, slowly reached out and gently took the artefact. Its surface was cold and smooth, covered in strange, barely visible symbols.
— We did it! — the victorious voice echoed off the walls, filling the space with a sense of triumph.

But then something strange happened. A bright glow flashed around Nomad. Before anyone could react, he was pulled into a portal that appeared out of nowhere.
— Nomad! — Cat shouted, rushing toward the vanishing point.
— Don't waste time! To understand what’s happened, we will need to get back to the ship and analyse the portal trail!

The notion of house music as a form of uptempo soul music is intrinsic evidence with a record like the one on hand. Professor Supercool’s If You Love Somebody is many things at once: an example of a special brand of British pop music, influenced by US-American soul more or less from the get-go, the Second Summer of Love, the conception of Balearic as a music genre, the cultural interchange of European dance floors and DJs from across the pond and underground music marketing through the vessel of special one-time pressings. The mysterious Professor Supercool is actually a moniker for Dr. Rob of The Blow Monkeys’s fame, who produced the song with a veteran and legendary DJ of the Northern Soul scene „The Real Hector“ – a resident at the famous Wag Club.

Originally a part of the band’s Album Spring Time For The World, it appeared first as a special For-Promotion-Only-12“ in 1989 with limited information as a trial ballon to „avoid preconceptions“. The fear was without reason. Like the band’s other big dance floor record and Balearic fave LA Passionara a year later, it got played and supported by the DJs of its time. Next to Graeme Park at the Hacienda or Paul Oakenfold, it also got picked up by Mastermixer Tony Humphries and became a staple at his radio and club sets for KissFm respectively Club Zanzibar. While the vocal mix found its way on said album, the preferred 12“ instrumental version has never been released anywhere else up until now and made the record go for a substantial amount of Discogs dollars.

Expanded with an edit by the label’s in-house DJ Gerd Janson that is supposed to work as a dub alternative to the vocal mix, the 12-inch and bundle download contain the original plus a faithfully restored and remastered version of the instrumental in demand. If you love this record it is impossible to let it go.

"Alfonsvs bring their 2016 to an end with a beautiful 3 track EP, on their own new imprint: Fluxus."

"44th Romance", is the track that gives the EP its name. It's a dark breakbeat cut, with a subtle use of the amen break sample, a strong bassline, and bass and techno music influences. The lyrics in the middle are related to the inevitability of the arrival of a new loved one.

"Us" was done in conjunction with the dutch singer Eline van der Does, from a very well known touring dutch Jazz Band. The collaboration started with the singer's curiosity around the world of techno and house, when one of the Alfonsvs guys opened it a bit to her, and despite her complete lack of any techno knowledge, both came to realize the possibilities they had for a collaboration. This is not the last piece of work to come out between the two artists.

"There Was You" was a track that since the early beginning had the support of the italian duo Hiver. This is a dub techno track that opens itself up with the use of different reverbs, spacial delays and the use of some acoustic percussion, giving the EP's overall feeling a more dance floor focus.
