Michael Mayer became obsessed with Erik Luebs, an American producer based in Osaka, after stumbling upon his independently released music on Bandcamp. Luebs’ talent for creating high-energy, minimalist acid techno with impeccable, futuristic sound design swiftly earned him a regular place in Mayer’s sets. It was only a matter of time before Luebs made his debut on Kompakt’s Speicher series with this highly versatile EP. ‘Riding the Blade’ opens the four-track EP, showcasing Luebs’ signature punchy psychedelia. ‘Scarlet Viscera’ features a sleek, minimal groove that is reminiscent of the genre’s heyday in the 2000s. ‘Transform Into Glass’ emanates blissful Detroit vibes, and the EP closes with a real bang: ‘Sucked Through Tube’ creates a frenzy on the dance floor without the need for a single kick drum. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal 2005 album Staring Into Space, Glaswegian duo Silicone Soul present a Darkroom Dubs reissue featuring two pivotal remixes that helped define the album’s legacy.

Leading the charge is Ewan Pearson’s electrifying remix of The Poisoner’s Diary — a masterclass in sonic transformation. Pearson channels raw new wave urgency into the original, fusing its proto-dark disco leanings with climactic synth flourishes and machine-gun claps. The result marked a creative breakthrough for Pearson and added a defining edge to Silicone Soul’s catalogue, foreshadowing the darker aesthetic that would come to shape European dancefloors.

The vocal version adds another layer of intensity with the haunting delivery of Stuart Gray (from Glasgow indie band Viva Stereo). His stark post-punk refrains narrate a chilling gothic tale of emotional unravelling — an allegory for love’s collapse.

Adding further weight to this anniversary package, Berlin’s Dirt Crew deliver a powerful rework of Inferno. Amplifying the original's deep dub foundations, they lay down an irresistible Italo-disco bassline while framing the timeless toast — 'What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul?’ The result is a remix that balances spiritual gravitas with dancefloor intensity, a reminder of Dirt Crew’s signature touch during their own breakthrough years.

These remixes have been lovingly remastered by Conor Dalton (Glowcast Audio) from the original DATs, giving DJs, collectors, and new listeners a fresh chance to experience two standout reinterpretations from the Silicone Soul archive. Twenty years on, they remain as vital as ever.

"Alfonsvs bring their 2016 to an end with a beautiful 3 track EP, on their own new imprint: Fluxus."

"44th Romance", is the track that gives the EP its name. It's a dark breakbeat cut, with a subtle use of the amen break sample, a strong bassline, and bass and techno music influences. The lyrics in the middle are related to the inevitability of the arrival of a new loved one.

"Us" was done in conjunction with the dutch singer Eline van der Does, from a very well known touring dutch Jazz Band. The collaboration started with the singer's curiosity around the world of techno and house, when one of the Alfonsvs guys opened it a bit to her, and despite her complete lack of any techno knowledge, both came to realize the possibilities they had for a collaboration. This is not the last piece of work to come out between the two artists.

"There Was You" was a track that since the early beginning had the support of the italian duo Hiver. This is a dub techno track that opens itself up with the use of different reverbs, spacial delays and the use of some acoustic percussion, giving the EP's overall feeling a more dance floor focus.
